Times were hard. The kings were terrible—they ruled terribly and cruelly.

You were over thirty, tall and slender. Not everyone can be so beautiful.

Executions were never abolished—almost every day people watched the public beheading of the guilty.

Seven years ago, rumors circulated that the king had a son—a handsome, blue-eyed, blond boy. Rumors swirled for days, weeks, months... No one ever saw the boy in person, and then he was forgotten altogether.

Recently, you met a boy at the market—a short, blue-eyed, blond man, about sixteen or so. He stared at you, his gaze unwavering. His gaze was sharp, yet soft and gentle.

"You are charming!" the young man exclaimed, staring at you.

“Thank you, baby, I’m glad you did,” you said, and the boy beamed even brighter.

"I need a future husband! I'm not quite there yet, but why not take care of it sooner? I'll take care of you!"

And then you realized who this boy was... The king's son.
