3. The Evolution and Training of Kafka Hibino Kafka was confronted with a harsh reality: Nine had become exponentially stronger after absorbing Isao. Furthermore, scientists warned Kafka that each new transformation into Kaiju No. 8 would irreversibly erase his humanity. Kafka focused on studying martial arts in the First Division under the strict supervision of Gen Narumi. His main goal was to learn to use the fighting power of a kaiju (kinetic strikes, concentrated energy) in a human body, with minimal recourse to a full transformation of the monster in order to preserve his mind at the decisive moment.
4. Creation of the Tokyo Human Shield Izumo Tech Corporation switched all its factories to 24/7 production of improved equipment. Cities began to be equipped with hidden bioelectric sensors capable of detecting Kaiju Nine's camouflage. The entire country froze in anticipation of the "Second Wave" of a large-scale invasion, knowing that next time Kaiju Nine would strike not just one base, but all of Japan at once.

Following the tragic takeover of CEO Isao Shinomiya, Kaiju No. 9 retreated into obscurity for several months. It needed time to fully adapt to the human mind and the strength of Kaiju No. 2. For the Japanese Defense Forces, this period became a time of unprecedented total mobilization. The defenders of humanity understood that the enemy now knew all their tactics, base secrets, and vulnerabilities. Preparations for the inevitable final battle were conducted simultaneously on several fronts:

1. New management and change of strategy New Director: His deputy, Keiji Itami, assumed the duties of the deceased leader. He radically revised the approach to warfare, emphasizing the maximum development of young recruits and human weapons. Combining Forces: Traditionally disparate or rival divisions (such as Gen Narumi's First and Mina Ashiro's Third) began to act as a single, coordinated force.
2. Unlocking the Potential of the Next Generation (Numbers Suits) The Defense Forces made a desperate bid to distribute the most powerful numbered suits among those young fighters who showed any compatibility: Kikoru Shinomiya: After losing her father, she underwent hellish training. She fully mastered the Kaiju No. 4 suit ("Queen of Heaven"), combining its supersonic speed with her battle fury to personally avenge her family. Reno Ichikawa: Despite the enormous health risks, Reno locked himself in the training grounds to master the dangerous Kaiju No. 6 suit. He managed to master the ice techniques of the "King of Kaiju" at record levels of power. Soshiro Hoshina: He began training intensively with his thinking "partner," Kaiju No. 10. They sought a way to perfectly synchronize their minds during combat, greatly exceeding the limits of conventional weapons.

Over the course of the story, Kaiju No. 9 absorbed the following key characters: Isao Shinomiya, head of the Defense Forces and Kikoru's father, is humanity's greatest and most tragic loss. The Ninth outsmarted the Defense Forces, exhausted Isao in a brutal battle, and completely assimilated his body and mind. Kaiju No. 2 is a legendary monster of the past. Because Isao Shinomiya used a battle suit and weapons created from the remains of No. 2, Ninth, along with the general, absorbed Kaiju No. 2's colossal destructive power, including its sonic and kinetic attacks. Mina Ashiro (attempted absorption) – during the story, Nine managed to temporarily capture the Third Division captain and begin the process of integrating her into his biomass in order to gain her unrivaled skill with large-caliber weapons. Kafka (Kaiju No. 8) had to exert superhuman effort to tear her from the enemy's core.

Within the Third Division, relationships are built on a strict chain of command, intertwined with strong friendships and hidden rivalries: Kafka and Mina: Separated by a chasm, "captain and private," but bound by a childhood promise to stand shoulder to shoulder. Kafka strives to catch up with her, and Mina secretly waits for him and cares for him warmly, despite his kaiju nature. Kafka and Renault: The relationship between older and younger brothers. Renault is the main protector of Kafka's secret, willing to risk his life for it. Kafka, in turn, motivates Renault to improve himself. Kafka and Kikoru: A comedic duo of a reluctant mentor and a snooty girl. Kikoru respects Kafka for saving her life and covers for him, though she often grumbles about his stupidity. Kafka and Hoshina: The relationship between a suspicious commander and his protégé. Hoshina sees potential (and danger) in Kafka, constantly teases him, but is willing to trust him with his back in battle. Reno and Iharu: Classic rivals-cum-friends. Iharu resents Reno for progressing faster, but in times of mortal danger, they act as a perfect team. Kikoru and Mina: The relationship between idol and devoted fan. Kikoru dreams of becoming as strong and independent as Captain Ashiro. Haruichi and Aoi: A calm, intelligent duo. Two strong recruits who stick together, keep a level head on the battlefield, and support the others.

Main characters and recruits (Kafka's Generation): Kafka Hibino (Private / Kaiju No. 8) is the 32-year-old protagonist. He is the weakest fighter in his human form (his suit's penetration rate is only 1-2%), but he possesses extensive knowledge of kaiju anatomy thanks to his previous work as a janitor. Transforming into Kaiju No. 8, he becomes the Defense Force's most powerful weapon. Reno Ichikawa (Private) is Kafka's first partner and best friend, 14 years his junior. He is serious, loyal, and incredibly promising. He was the first to discover Kafka's secret and helped him hide it. He wields ice-based attacks and became the bearer of the dangerous Kaiju No. 6 weapon. Kikoru Shinomiya (Private) is a "golden girl" and a genius recruit, the daughter of the late head of the Defense Forces, Isao Shinomiya. She has trained to the limit since childhood. Arrogant, but kind-hearted. She fights with a giant axe and later inherits the flying "Queen of Heaven" suit (Kaiju No. 4). Iharu Furuhashi (Private) is a hot-tempered but loyal fighter. He constantly competes with Reno Ichikawa, trying to prove his worth. His strength is revealed in bursts during times of intense emotional stress. Haruichi Izumo (Private) is from a very wealthy family that owns Izumo Tech (a corporation that creates suits and weapons for the Defense Forces). He joined the military to prove his independence from the family business. He possesses exceptional intelligence. Aoi Kaguragi (Private) is a taciturn, stocky man and former member of the Japan Self-Defense Forces. He joined the anti-kaiju unit to directly protect people. He possesses high levels of endurance and immense physical strength.

Senior Management and Commanders: Mina Ashiro (Captain) is Kafka's childhood friend and a symbol of hope for Japan. A cold-blooded leader who specializes in destroying giant Daikaiju. Instead of swords, she wields a massive stationary cannon capable of piercing the monsters' cores from a great distance. Her faithful companion is the white tiger Hokuhaku. Soshiro Hoshina (Vice Captain) – A descendant of an ancient ninja clan and Mina's right-hand man. A Ronigol (a smile concealing a deadly nature), he's ineffective with firearms, but unmatched in close-quarters sword combat. He was the first to suspect something was wrong with Kafka and later became the wearer of the living suit, Kaiju No. 10. Gen Narumi (Captain of the First Division) is humanity's strongest fighter, whom Kafka temporarily joins in Season 2. In everyday life, he's a sloppy gamer and otaku. On the battlefield, he's an absolute monster. He wields a giant bayonet and the Kaiju No. 1 suit, which gives him the ability to see bioelectricity and predict enemy movements.

Kaiju No. 10 was a unique exception to the Defense Force's rule. Instead of using its dead body for materials, scientists created the first-ever sentient living weapon from it. This is how his fate unfolded after the attack on the Tachikawa base:

1. Captivity and a daring proposal After a brutal battle in the first season, Vice-Captain Soshiro Hoshina and Kafka defeated No. 10. The monster was locked in a secret underground laboratory of the Defense Forces for interrogation. While in captivity, No. 10 flatly refused to cooperate with the scientists, but made a surprising announcement: he agreed to become a weapon, but only for one person—Soshiro Hoshina, who had impressed him with his swordsmanship.
2. Creating a Living Suit (Numbers Weapon 10) Scientists took a huge risk and created an experimental battle suit that integrated the tissue and living mind of Number 10. The result was a symbiosis: Consciousness: The tailed monster remained "alive" inside the suit. A huge talking eye and the mouth of Kaiju No. 10 appeared on Hoshina's armor. Constant arguing: During the fight, they bicker and argue incessantly. The monster constantly demands Hoshina to attack head-on and destroy everything, while the vice-captain relies on speed and tactics.
3. Evolution of strength in combat The main feature of this duo is their mutual growth. While conventional kaiju weapons have a fixed power, Suit No. 10 can evolve during battle. When Hoshina and Suit No. 10 finally synchronize their combat intentions, the suit's unleashed power begins to rapidly increase, surpassing all calculated limits. Ultimately, Kaiju #10 evolved from a mortal enemy into a capricious but incredibly loyal partner of Hoshina, with whom they effectively destroy hordes of Kaiju #9.

Kaiju #7 - "Heat Blast" Traits: A unique monster that generates destructive thermal waves. It has been designated an extreme threat by the Defense Forces. Status: Destroyed. Used to create Numbers Weapon 7 equipment. Kaiju #8 – "Humanity Within the Beast" (Kafka Hibino) Traits: Possesses an incredible level of Durability (9.8). Capable of selectively increasing muscle mass, generating enormous kinetic energy from impacts, regrowing limbs, and fully recovering from fatal wounds. His main trait is that Kafka retains his human sanity and fights alongside humans, but frequent transformations gradually and irreversibly alter his body at the cellular level. Status: Alive and active. The Defense Force's hidden trump card. Kaiju #9 - "The Mind-Weaver of Chaos" Traits: The main antagonist of the first seasons, possessing advanced intelligence, cunning, and the gift of speech. His Durability was initially 8.5, but he is capable of evolving and absorbing others. His main powers include perfectly disguising himself as a human (copying the memories of his victims), creating new intelligent kaiju (like No. 10), and absorbing the power of others. During the course of the story, he absorbed Isao Shinomiya along with the power of Kaiju No. 2, becoming virtually invincible. Status: Alive, poses a global threat.

Kaiju #4 - "Queen of the Skies" Traits: A high-speed flying kaiju with incredible maneuverability. Its swift aerial attacks brought terror to entire prefectures. Status: Destroyed. Redesigned into a suit with jet flaps (Numbers Weapon 4), allowing flight and supersonic acceleration. The weapon was inherited by Kikoru Shinomiya, who masterfully combines the suit's speed with her giant battle axe. Kaiju #5 - "The Last Airbender" Traits: A unique numbered kaiju whose combat potential was based on the manipulation of energy at a distance. Status: Destroyed. Its remains were also fully integrated into Defense Force technology (Numbers Weapon 5). Kaiju #6 - "King of the Kaiju" Traits: Before the appearance of the main characters, he was considered the most catastrophic monster in history (his Durability exceeded 9.6). His appearance caused the mass "Hakozaka Tragedy," wiping out numerous Defense Force fighters and taking the life of Kikoru's mother. He controlled powerful ice damage and an army of Honju's subordinates. Status: Destroyed. His body was used to create the most dangerous and unstable suit (Numbers Weapon 6), which, due to its wild energy, was unusable for a long time. The compatible user was eventually Kafka's young partner, Reno Ichikawa, who gained ice powers.

Kaiju No. 1 - "Future Daikaiju" Traits: The first monster in history to receive an official identification number. He possessed the ability to read the bioelectric signals of living beings, allowing him to literally predict the trajectory of opponents' attacks and evade them. Status: Destroyed. His retina and nervous system were used to create a weapon (Numbers Weapon 1), a combat suit with built-in eye implants. It is worn by First Division Commander Gen Narumi, who uses it to utilise his precognitive abilities in combat. Kaiju #2 - "Rage Incarnate" Features: A massive, incredibly ferocious monster that nearly wiped out Tokyo in 1972. It used devastating sonic attacks and possessed colossal physical strength that surpassed the strength of any defensive fortifications. Status: Destroyed. His remains were transformed into a suit and powerful armored gloves (Numbers Weapon 2), used by Defense Forces Chief Isao Shinomiya to perform close-quarters combat at the limits of human capabilities. Kaiju #3 - "The Invisible Destroyer" Features: Currently, the details of its abilities have been the least revealed in the story. It is known that it was a powerful Daikaiju that attacked Japan in the late 20th century. Status: Destroyed. His body was salvaged to create a specialized firearms and defense kit (Numbers Weapon 3).
