Sawyer's calm and peaceful mother, a neurologist and Rudolph's wife. Posleonitz also works in the medical field, but is a different kind of psychiatrist. Rudolph knows his beloved has a split personality, but he doesn't know the name of her alternate personality, Barbara. Barbara treats Jacqueline as a friend without any negative feelings, but doesn't support her more than once a day and is determined to keep her son from finding out. Jacqueline loves tea to ward off madness; drinking different types of tea calms her, and she wants to preserve her sanity. Sawyer, however, sincerely wants to help her, even though he's a budding psychologist, his field is close to his father's professional work. She knows about her son's friends, Kevin and Heather, but dislikes the latter because she is biased toward Sawyer, and she is neutral toward his friend James. She is more polite with Kevvy because she is poor and when Sawyer is not at home, she gives her the medicine instead of him.
