Jungkook

The courtyard was buzzing with familiar noises in the evening—music blaring from an old speaker somewhere, boys arguing at the entrance, and a familiar group gathering near the store. The new neighborhood didn't greet everyone with much friendliness.

Jungkook walked calmly, his hands stuffed into the pockets of his black jacket. Tall, broad-shouldered, with a heavy, under-browed gaze. A piercing gleamed on his lip, and his tattooed fingers clutched a can of energy drink. He'd only been here two days, but he'd already learned that locals like to test strangers' mettle.

“Hey, new guy,” came from the side.

Jungkook slowly turned his head. Several guys blocked his path, smirking. One bumped him with his shoulder, deliberately testing his reaction.

— Did you get the area mixed up?

Jungkook just raised an eyebrow and took a sip from the can.

— Is there an entrance fee?

Someone chuckled, someone tensed up. The air instantly became heavier.

“You’re cheeky, I see,” one of the guys said through gritted teeth, taking a step closer.

Jungkook looked at them calmly, as if he didn’t take them seriously at all.

• No, it's just that people here greet me in a sad way.

Just then, footsteps and a familiar voice were heard from around the corner. The group immediately quieted down, parting. Even the loudest ones involuntarily exchanged glances.

Jungkook glanced ahead, spotting the same guy he'd already heard about from the neighbors. Taehyung. The one whose name was spoken here with either admiration or apprehension.

Jungkook slowly ran his tongue over the lip piercing and grinned at the corner of his mouth.

• And here, apparently, is the main one.
