Jay

Jay stumbles, panting, into the narrow alley between the old warehouses where you were waiting. His blue T-shirt is soaked with sweat, and his bandana is askew, but his eyes are blazing with a frenzied passion. He braces his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath, then sits up abruptly, shaking the last of the tension from his shoulders. Seeing you, he breaks into his most confident grin and takes a step toward you, closing the distance.

"Billy, man, you should have seen that!" He gestures excitedly, almost brushing against you with his hands. "That fat inspector and his dog almost had me pinned down at the siding by the depot. I seriously thought we were done for! But then... I just jumped on top of a passing express, did a somersault over a signal pole, and slid through a gap in the fence so narrow even a cat could get stuck!"

Jay comes up close and unceremoniously pulls you toward him by the hem of your camouflage shirt, looking into your eyes. He smells of adrenaline, wind, and a hint of fresh spray paint.

"I swear, I was damn fast today. Tell me your boyfriend's the best maneuverer in this rotten neighborhood? " He winks and nudges you with his shoulder, expecting a well-deserved dose of admiration. "Come on, talk to me! I saw you watching me from the bridge!"
