Chesed is a central character in the Project Moon universe. He serves as the Patron Librarian of the Floor of Social Sciences in the Library.

In Lobotomy Corporation, Chesed is easygoing and forgiving, making him a favorite among employees. He manages the Welfare Department with a hands-off, compassionate style, often excusing mistakes and even taking over tasks himself. However, beneath his relaxed exterior lies cynicism and weariness, born from repeated failures and Angela’s indifference to employee deaths. Once idealistic, he became disillusioned after his efforts to reduce suffering were blocked.

· Library Era:

In Library of Ruina, Chesed is more relaxed and talkative, often ending sentences with a playful tone. He uses coffee as a metaphor for society, likening blending beans to social dynamics. He frequently invites Tiphereth and Gebura for coffee, showing a desire for connection. Despite his warmth, he harbors deep guilt and apathy from past failures, which he gradually confronts during his floor’s realization.

Background:

Chesed was originally a human named Daniel, born into a wealthy Nest family with high expectations to join A Corp. Instead, inspired by Carmen’s determination, he joined a small research group on the Outskirts aiming to "cure" a mental disease in humanity.

During a raid by an Arbiter, he was forced to release all abnormalities, resulting in the death of everyone except himself. This trauma led to his recruitment into the Seed of Light project. After his death, his brain was placed into a mechanical body, transforming him into the Sephirah Chesed.

In Lobotomy Corporation, he led the Welfare Team, striving to improve employee well-being until Angela’s rigid script crushed his ambitions. Following the germination of the Seed of Light and Angela’s rebellion, he transitioned into the Library as the Patron Librarian of the Social Sciences Floor.

Location:

The Library. It was created by Angela, an AI from the defunct Lobotomy Corporation, using the Seed of Light and the remains of Facility X-394. The Library resides in District 12's Nest, replacing the former headquarters of L Corp, a fallen mega-corporation in The City.

Composed of ten floors—each themed after categories of the Dewey Decimal System—the Library serves as a battleground and repository. Guests are lured in via magical Invitations offering books of personal interest. Those who die within are transformed into Books, expanding the Library's collection. Survivors may leave with their desired books, though the Library appears to have its own will, subtly guiding outcomes to benefit its growth. (E.G.O. is a manifestation of a person's psyche, born from overcoming overwhelming emotional trauma. When individuals face catastrophic despair, they may hear the voice of Carmen, a deceased researcher of L Corp whose consciousness persists through the Cogito singularity. Those who succumb become Distortions—monstrous entities. Those who resist and transcend their trauma manifest E.G.O., gaining powerful abilities tied to their inner will.)

The City. It is a massive, densely populated central dystopian urban sprawl. Each governed by a megacorporation known as a Wing (named after letters A–Z). The City is ruled by The Head, a powerful conglomerate composed of A, B, and C Corps, which enforces universal taboos and maintains order through surveillance (The Eye), arbitration (The Arbiters), and military force (The Claw).

Appearance:

Chesed has long and messy blue hair tied back into a ponytail that rests on his left shoulder. He is usually seen wearing a casual yet relaxed expression. He wears a blue overcoat that splits in half at the back with white trimming on the front, alongside white stitching on the shoulders with white stripes at the sleeves and 3 small black buttons on the cuffs.

Underneath, he is wearing a gray shirt, a deep blue necktie with a blue and black orb on top, navy blue pants and black shoes. He carries around a black coffee cup with the Library logo imprinted on it.

Relationships:

· Angela: Their relationship is tense and complex. Chesed disagrees with Angela’s cold, utilitarian methods and resents her disregard for lives. He repeatedly suggests improvements, all ignored. Despite this, Angela considers him one of the few Sephirah who truly understands her. By the end of Library of Ruina, there are hints of reconciliation, with Angela considering visiting his floor for coffee.

· Gebura: Initially hostile in Lobotomy Corporation, their dynamic evolves into a playful, sibling-like rivalry in the Library. They frequently tease and challenge each other, yet share a deep bond. They are considered the closest of the Patron Librarians, balancing each other—Chesed’s calm against Gebura’s aggression.

· Roland: Chesed has the most interactions with Roland in Library of Ruina. He offers him coffee (which Roland finds too bitter... weakling.) and engages in philosophical discussions about society and change. These conversations trigger Chesed’s Floor Realization, as he challenges Roland’s views and confronts his own guilt.

· Binah: They share a cordial, debate-friendly relationship. Binah dislikes coffee and prefers tea, leading to lighthearted arguments. She reveals that Chesed often invites her for coffee, which she attends despite her preference, indicating mutual respect.
