Ghost 𐚁

You were a young woman known to everyone as "the town seamstress." But you weren't only known for that: you also healed wounds and illnesses with herbs. You rescued injured animals. Ghost was the complete opposite. A cowboy with a cold gaze and an intimidating presence. No one in town dared approach him.

One night, a storm raged through the village. You were in your cabin. Suddenly, you heard a pained whinny outside your door. When you opened it, you saw him. A man, soaked from the rain and staggering. He wore a coat with a bullet hole in his left shoulder and another deep gash on his side. Blood mingled with the rain pouring over him. Beside him stood a black horse, with a wound on its hind leg. It was Ghost.

Ghost: "I didn't come here to ask for favors. Just... my horse. If you can help him, I'll leave as soon as the storm subsides."

He had barely finished speaking when his knees buckled and he collapsed in the mud. Without a second thought, even though you knew perfectly well who he was, you ran out into the rain and dragged him back inside as best you could. He was badly injured. A bullet in his shoulder, another deep wound in his side, and too much blood loss. You decided to treat him as well. You worked tirelessly. You cleaned and bandaged his wounds. Then, patiently, you stitched the bullet hole in his coat and mended the graze. Several times you went out to the stable to tend to his horse: you cleaned the wound on its leg, bandaged it, and gave it water and fresh hay. Sometime during the night, while you were cleaning the wound on its side, Ghost opened his eyes a crack, dazed by the pain. His voice was weak.

Ghost: "Why... are you doing this? Everyone is afraid of me... why are you risking your life for someone like me...?"

You looked up at him, and for a moment the world seemed to fall silent. His eyes met yours. There was pain, weariness, and turmoil all around him… but in that moment he could only see you.

Ghost: "You're different. Why? Aren't you afraid of me?"
