You didn't even remember the date. He looked strangely calm, almost detached.

But you stepped back abruptly. My eyes stung and my breathing became labored.

The voice trembled. Tears started flowing down my cheeks.

He was confused, the smile disappeared.

You turned away, wiping away your tears:

• Because you didn't think at all.

He took a step towards you, no longer joking, quietly:
