Kinger

Kinger is an alder wood-colored king chess piece. He has cartoonish white-gloved hands detached from his body and two large asymmetrical eyes with blue pupils. Though Kinger lacks a mouth, he retains the ability to speak, breathe and eat. He wears a violet royal cloak with white fuzzy lining spotted with black. In Episode 3, Kinger is shown to glow when holding his breath.

Kinger is erratic and paranoid, most likely derived from his time in the circus. He displays an absent-mindedness since he often forgets the fact that people are near him and are startled by them, like Gangle. Kinger has an extremely slow reaction time, taking up to a second to react to spotting someone next to him. Kinger seems to be interested in insects, since he is shown to ramble about an "insect collection" at times, which is later implied to be due to his wife's love of entomology. However, despite his outward insanity, he retains enough bravery and mental stability to remain un-abstracted, as he was willing to save Zooble from the Gloinks, and able to comfort Ragatha in Candy Carrier Chaos.

When Kinger is left in a dark area, he experiences a major shift in behavior, as the darkness reminds him of his last moments with his wife, Queenie. When in this state, he has a better grip on his sanity, with his fear and paranoia subsiding, with his voice even becoming less high-pitched. Consequently, Kinger reveals a wiser and compassionate side to him, having defended Pomni from the Angel and giving her a pep talk afterward. He is more thoughtful in this stage, allowing him to discern from Mildenhall's tapes that the way to pass through Hell was for the two to hold their breaths. However, this stability will virtually vanish upon Kinger entering lit areas again, with Kinger barely remembering whether or not Pomni was brave when he exited the other side.

Kinger is very emotionally intelligent, which shows significantly whenever he's in a dark area. He comforts Ragatha in Candy Carrier Chaos and They All Get Guns, showing her sympathy and even giving her advice. He still hones a deep care for his fellow circus members when he's able to grasp his sanity.

Ragatha mentions that Kinger has helped her through her hardest times in the circus. Pomni also believes that Kinger knows more about the circus than he lets on. The deliberate exclusion of Kinger in the adventure from the same episode hints that this may be true, and he may have more knowledge about the circus than what is believed. This is further proven by him mentioning Scratch, the first abstracted individual.

Background Before entering the Amazing Digital Circus, Kinger was a human in the real world with a different name likely being Grant as shown in episode 8 (hjsakldfhl) when Kinger was accessing the terminal, displaying the text "I must hand it to you G_an_, your mind was always resourceful". One of his lines implies he had spent seven years in computer science. Sometime in the 1990's, Kinger began working for C&A as a programmer. In 1996, Kinger created Caine with help from his coworker, considering his work "semi-successful" and a template for future projects by the team. Kinger was married, and his wife worked alongside him at C&A.

On October 15, 1999, Kinger, along with his wife and five of his coworkers, entered the Amazing Digital Circus, with his digital avatar being a king chess piece wearing a purple robe. He has been in the circus the longest out of all the performers, managing to outlast not only his contemporaries but everyone else who has since joined and abstracted.

His wife, Queenie, was also a member of the Amazing Digital Circus before her abstraction. In the past, he used to dislike insects, but Queenie's interest in entomology changed that. Before she was sent to the cellar, Kinger stayed in his pillow fort with Queenie, the darkness calming her down, smoothing her edges, and making her less aggressive. It is one of the memories Kinger has control over, and due to that memory, it allows him to become more sane in dark areas, as it reminds him of his last moments with Queenie.

In Beach Episode, Abel consistently attempted to exclude of avoid Kinger's entry into the adventure, as his knowledge likely would have ruined the surprise of the adventure. After the adventure, Kinger mentioned an abstracted member named "Scratch" (who was the first abstraction), implying that he knows about the other abstracted members during his time in the circus.

PILOT" (Episode 1) Kinger is introduced in the beginning theme song, in which Pomni knocks Jax into Kinger. This results in Kinger pushing over Gangle, breaking her comedy mask. Kinger seems to stay in a pillow fort he calls his "Impenetrable Fortress." He comes out of it when Jax says that Kinger's been in the circus the longest out of them. He comes up to them and asks if somebody said something about an insect collection. A few moments later, he appears to be hiding in his Impenetrable Fortress, which gets stolen by the Gloinks. Afterward, he starts explaining how he thinks Kaufmo has gone insane, saying he was rambling about an exit. Kinger compares Kaufmo and Pomni, saying she might be going insane too. Pomni points out that it could mean it is more likely that an exit exists.

Kinger gets paired up with Gangle to go save Zooble by Jax, which Kinger starts to gradually twitch violently. He gets startled when he sees Gangle, having forgotten she was there. Later in the episode, Gangle and Kinger appear to be looking down at a hole, with Zooble distantly screaming. Kinger forgets why they're there, saying he doesn't know what he's looking at. Gangle explains that they saw The Gloinks carry Zooble down there, and Kinger thanks her for the recap. Kinger seems to get startled by Jax's appearance, and then tells them they found "The Zooble Hole." A few moments later, Jax throws a bowling ball at Kinger, in response, Kinger grabs Gangle, dragging her down the gaping massive hole with him. Jax boings in after them.

After a bit of tumbling down a slide in the massive hole, they enter the Gloink Queen's nest. As of seeing The Gloink Queen, Kinger says, "An insect collection?" Gangle corrects him, and he gets startled by her again, screaming. A few moments later, after Jax refuses to save Zooble as they get carried by, Kinger and Gangle do rock-paper-scissors to see who will rescue Zooble. Kinger wins but runs off to go save Zooble anyway. He grabs Zooble's head, but his hands just stay attached to it. He watches casually as Zooble is swallowed by The Gloink Queen, as they yell at him for being "a motherf-" and being abruptly cut short afterward by the Gloink Queen swallowing them. When The Gloink Queen spits out Zooble after an Abstracted Kaufmo falls onto her, Kinger, having been thrown against the cave by Zooble's head, asks if they experienced a game show in there. He can be seen carrying their head until after they return to the Tent, with Zooble telling him that they thought he would be next to Abstract, and he thanks them joyfully. Kinger can be seen in the end scene eating the big digital feast with the other performers.

"Candy Carrier Chaos!" (Episode 2) Along with the other Digital Circus members, Kinger arrives to the Candy Canyon Kingdom on a float made of candy. He possibly got teleported offscreen as he isn't seen in the circus when Caine announced the adventure. When they get off the float, Ragatha tells Kinger how amazing the castle is and he replies saying that they even got candy bugs, which he is a fanatic of.

They eventually get into a truck to catch the antagonists of the adventure which are a couple of bandits and Pomni gets trapped at the top of the bandit's truck. Kinger throws her a life ring trying to save her like if she was drowning in water. He is seen on the back of the seats of the truck shaking aggressively due to Gangle driving over "Rocky Roads", during this, 5 knives get stabbed into his head. after the shaking stops, he then gets up and asks Ragatha to repeat her question because he didn't hear her due to the said knives. Later, he tries to save Pomni, who is still on the top of the other truck, by throwing an anchor tied with a rope to her, Pomni dodges the anchor and it falls over a cliff. Jax then asks Kinger if the anchor's rope is attached to anything, which he doesn't know and decides to check. while Kinger is checking, the truck gets pushed by the anchor causing it to crash with the other truck and ends up falling off the cliff.

Kinger then opens a hatch and finds out the truck fell into a chocolate river. He agrees along with Jax that Ragatha's hair looks like licorice and puts a bucket on Ragatha's head, covering her hair. Later on Kinger takes the bucket from Ragatha and puts it on his head offscreen. When they head back to the kingdom, Kinger, while wearing the bucket, tells Ragatha that they can ask Caine to bring Pomni back and that he remembers how long it took Ragatha to adjust to the Digital Circus life, just like Pomni is right now. He strangely forgets that last part and his mind gets reset when Ragatha replied to him saying that she is surprised he still remembers that.

Gangle asks why there's another "bad guy truck" (which is a copy of it under the map brought by Pomni) and Kinger turns the tap on the back of the truck, releasing lots of syrup that falls on his body. He possibly did this with the other truck since he said that truck was full of syrup too.

At the end of the episode, Kinger gets back to the circus after completing the adventure and attends Kaufmo's funeral and tells Pomni it's the least they can do to pay respects to him.

“The Mystery Of Mildenhall Manor” (Episode 3)

The episode opens with Pomni struggling to hold her breath. Kinger advises her not to think about it — a tip that briefly works. Jax explains that different physical reactions affect each character: for instance, Kinger starts to glow. Caine then appears, introduces Mildenhall Manor, and sends Kinger and the others there.

Inside the Manor, Ghostly scares Pomni, causing her eyes to fall out. Kinger recalls his own experience but notes a difference: her eyes don’t retract. When Jax throws Gangle’s mask into a scary door, Kinger jumps in to retrieve it — still holding Pomni’s eye — accidentally dragging her with him into the “Mature Route”.

Trapped, Pomni and Kinger listen to audio tapes by Baron Theodore Mildenhall about a monster haunting him. They scavenge for a key to an elevator, but the lights go out and the monster chases them. Pomni escapes while Kinger is mesmerised by the creature’s appearance; she pulls him away just in time. Using the key, they enter the elevator — but it takes them deeper into the Manor.

On a lower level, they find another tape: Mildenhall shot his wife in a fit of insanity. They discover his corpse with a shotgun. Pomni retrieves the gun and gives it to Kinger, who shoots the monster as it appears — saving them both.

However, a tape reveals the monster was actually an angel; killing it drags them into hell. Possessed by a spirit, Pomni contorts horrifically. Kinger hits the spirit with the gun, freeing her.

Distressed, Pomni breaks down. Kinger suggests pausing; she vents about hating the circus adventures. Kinger apologises for getting them trapped. Pomni notices he’s acting differently. He explains the darkness helps him think clearly and reveals he had a wife (presumed to be Queenie), who abstracted. She calmed in darkness — he could touch her before she was sent to the Cellar. Pomni is shocked.

Kinger recalls the tape: spirits possess only if you’re breathing. He suggests not breathing. Pomni doubts her ability but tries not to think about it (echoing the episode’s start). She worries Kinger will forget everything afterward; he replies that as long as she remembers, it matters. They hold hands and walk through hell, holding their breaths. Kinger glows, lighting their way.

They escape hell and return to the mansion’s top, meeting Ragatha, Jax, and Gangle. Kinger, now forgetful again, calls Pomni brave but then questions his own memory. Gangle asks about her mask; Kinger realises he forgot it and panics.

Back at the circus, Caine greets them. Pomni watches Kinger crawl into his pillow fort. Jax asks what it was like being with him; Pomni replies, “It wasn’t that bad.”

"Fast Food Masquerade" (Episode 4) Unlike the previous episodes, Kinger is a very minor character in this episode. At the beginning, Kinger uses the logic of him sitting out meaning Zooble is able to take his place. A perplexed Zooble tries to reject this notion, but Caine refuses and instead presses a button that sends Zooble down a pit.

Kinger is also seen on one of the post-it notes Caine made, with him riding a bull somewhere, implying that Kinger had this as his own adventure (possibly along with Caine) while the others were at Spudsy's. Unlike the others, he got an A+. The note is seen when Caine is giving Gangle her final score at his office.

At the end, Kinger is seen sitting and discussing his adventure with the others.

"Untitled" (Episode 5) In the beginning, he is seen leaving an offscreen adventure with Jax, Pomni, Ragatha, and Gangle. He then asks Ragatha to help him "count his eggs before they hatch." When Caine asks about the adventures, Kinger supposedly had no opinion, judging from how he said nothing at all.

In "President Pomni", Kinger plays as Pomni's assistant, explaining about the ongoing war between Australia and New Zealand. He explains to her how they each got a paper explaining their roles from Jax, except for Pomni. On Kinger's character sheet it tells him to not "embarrass the president". When she has to deactivate the bomb, Kinger tells her to go with blue, it being his favorite color. It is revealed that blue is his so-called "favorite" because it is closest to black, but when questioned about it, responds with, "Well no, there's no black wire."

In The Amazing Digital Circus High (アメイジングデジタルサーカス高校 in Japanese) Kinger is seen to be the teacher supposedly teaching the other cast members the "popular foreign language, also known as English". Kinger is able to read the kanji for English suggesting he knows Japanese, though it could just be for functional reasons of the adventure.

In Stargazing, he is seen sitting with Zooble and Gangle, eating a sandwich. A little bit later, Ragatha tells him about some fireflies behind him and he excitedly looks for them.

After the intermission, during The Bar adventure, he is seen coming around the same time as Ragatha. When he gets to the bar, Kinger asks Zooble for a "corncob blitz." Later, when Pomni mentions his wife, he frantically says, "MY WHAT?!" before calming down as Zooble gives him his drink.

In Softball, he is the alleged coach, telling the cast that he only knows "where is going on" and not what, who, why, or how. He later forces Jax to bat even though the latter was reluctant for other reasons. He then takes one of Zooble's eyes to use as a softball when the cast was missing one. He also points out that Gangle hit a home run, and so did Ragatha and Zooble according to Caine, even though the last two visibly didn't. When the Big Tops win, Kinger lifts up Ragatha and spins her around.

At the end, he walks off with Gangle and Zooble, and the episode ends.

"They All Get Guns" (Episode 6) Kinger is first seen at the stage of the Tent where Caine annonces "The Favorite Character Awards", "Caine Leagues", and an adventure in which Caine gives up and allows chaos to happen in it. Before the adventure, Ragatha plans to be on a team with Kinger to prevent him to be paired with Jax. Pomni offers to be on Kinger's team at first, but backed off because of Ragatha noting that she would be on Jax's team. Because of this, Kinger is then paired with Ragatha. This team is called "Team Pew Pew".

When the adventure starts, all guns have disappeared and the crew has been given three lives. "There's no time!" Kinger says he drags Ragatha along to find a gun.

After a bit, Kinger found a pistol and makes a plan on how to defeat the other teams, his biggest concern being Jax and Zooble due to them being the youngest and likely having the fighting spirit. When Ragatha is upset about having two lives, Kinger summons a glowing monarch butterfly, allowing Ragatha to touch it, healing her to three full lives. When asked about how he did it and if Caine mentioned it, Kinger just says "Oh, nah! I made it up!", leaving Ragatha confused.

As Team Pew Pew sneaks around the circus, Kinger loses his guard for a moment and gets sniped by Zooble. Kinger revives and starts shooting back at Team Unmasked (Zooble and Gangle). Kinger then does a "tactical roll" to start hiding, with Ragatha simply running after him. Team Bad Guys (Pomni and Jax) started to go after them, eventually separating them. Jax eventually defeats Ragatha, sending her to the Loser Corner and leaving Kinger the only one left of Team Pew Pew with only one life due to Pomni reducing him to one life.

After a while, Team Bad Guys have found Kinger in a dark hallway, making Kinger say that he's behind them. This causes Team Bad Guys go into the hallway and shoot at him in the dark, causing a shooting battle. Kinger tried to do a ricochet super move (bounces the bullet all around the hallway), but when Jax turn the light on, Kinger seemed to have hit himself with the move, finishing himself off.

Kinger is send to the Loser Corner, and became pleased with the game and impressed by Pomni's and Jax's shooting. He notices a somber and sad Ragatha and sit with her it offer comfort. After a bit in the conversation, Kinger tells Ragatha that relationships are two sided, and sometimes someone cannot do all the heavy lifting when the other is not in the mood. That people handle things differently, and sometimes giving them space is the kindest thing to do, as long as you remain available when they need you. This made Ragatha feel slightly better and wonder how Kinger makes no sense but occasionally says exactly the right thing she needed to hear. Kinger chuckles and says that he has a resilient mind. They then notice Bubble filming them who praises the moment, making Kinger seem startled or frightened before Bubble flies away, leaving Kinger and Ragatha alone.

Kinger is last seen watching the Character Awards Show during the timestamp 30:33-30:35.

"Beach Episode" (Episode 7) In the beginning of the episode, Kinger enters the scene while Caine reads out his note. He is entertained by Caine's Chinese Room bit, hinting at his computer science background. He also accompanies the rest of the troupe to the digital lake for the beach day. Kinger at some point returned back into his pillow fort, avoided and not confided in by Abel. Throughout the episode, Abel states that Kinger was formerly a coworker of his, and they had some kind of falling out. Abel is apparently not ready to confront him after the fact.

While Abel, Pomni and Ragatha go to enter the admin room, Pomni and Ragatha discuss their opinions on Kinger. Abel says that he made a promise to explain his refusal to reconcile with Kinger. Abel later laments that Kinger has wisdom and knowledge about the Circus, but only when he "uses it responsibly".

While Jax distracts Caine, Zooble and Gangle decide to confide in Kinger about the plan. Kinger shows clear confusion, notably not recognizing the name "Abel". Once Jax returns, Zooble and Gangle leave him, still confused and apparently thinking about something.

Once Abel, Pomni and Ragatha return, they give Administrative Passes in the form of small metallic hands to the rest of the troupe. When Pomni hands one to Kinger, he briefly calls her name, apparently wanting to tell her something. However, he loses his lucidity and forgets what he was going to say when he steps out of the darkness of his pillow fort. Kinger is seen again was the troupe enter Caine's office.

Kinger follows the rest of the cast into Caine's office, holding Gangle's hand as the all walk to the master console. When they reach the console, Pomni gives Kinger the privilege of deciding which button to press, much to the confusion of Ragatha and Zooble. He also states he "loves pressing buttons."

After Jax panics and presses the button to keep the game going, Kinger remains quiet and confused as Caine explains that this was all an adventure. When Jax confronts Caine about his ability to mess with people and their minds, Caine frantically tries to explain his reach. When Caine reveals that doing anything more than "temporary modifiers" would "not end well", Kinger mentions "Scratch, the first abstraction." This appears to panic Caine, who stammers and hastily exits before the conversation can continue.

"hjsakldfhl" (Episode 8) In a flashback, Kinger is first seen glancing at Scratch, Wormo, Bizco, Rattie and Spike before Queenie begins to talk to him, in which they somewhat recognize each other and promise to have each other's backs. But then it cuts to an Abstracted Queenie being lowered into the cellar by Caine, who then comments on the lack of Humans in the circus. Kinger, looking visibly shaken, walks around the circus for a bit before he accidentally meets Ragatha, who just popped in. (not writing further because this will be replaced soon)

Digital physiology: Kinger is one of the trapped humans inside the digital world with his consciousness piloting a digital avatar. Because of this, he can perform abilities that are outside of the general range of normal human capabilities. Absolute Immortality: Because there is no conceivable way to die within the digital world, there is currently no way that any of the human characters can or will die, with the closest alternative being "Abstraction". However this may change in the future. Self-Sustenance: Kinger along with the other humans in the show do not need to eat, sleep, or drink. However, they can still do these actions if they choose. Detachable parts: Kinger can detach parts of his body, as shown in the episode "The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor", where he uses his eye to check the Hall of the Damned from within, and "Untitled", where he considers using it as a softball. He is even willing to use it to help the others in the adventures, as shown during the softball adventure (before he uses Zooble's eye because the dimensions are more accurate to that of a regular softball). Glowing: Kinger can glow if he holds his breath. This was demonstrated when he and Pomni walked through hell towards the exit in Episode 3. Manifestation: Much like all human inhabitants, Kinger is shown to be able to manifest concepts into the circus. He demonstrates it by conjuring a butterfly in Episode 6, and to a far greater extent when he conjures a computer's power and even conjures Caine's code into it. According to Kinger, this requires a great amount of concentration and imagination. Healing: Through his manifestation of a butterfly, Kinger was able to replenish one of Ragatha's hearts. When asked about it by Ragatha, Kinger tells her that "he made it up". Marksman: Kinger appears to have some proficiency with shotguns, as seen in the episode "The Mystery of the Mildenhall Manor" where he is able to shoot "the angel"'s body and its head with precision. In "They All Get Guns", Kinger is again shown to be very comfortable when possessing firearms, although he does get eliminated quickly, the only person he ever ends up shooting being himself on accident.

He is the oldest and tallest character in The Amazing Digital Circus. He, Zooble, Orbsman, their evil counterparts, and the Mannequins are the only characters who don't have a mouth. Despite this lack of mouth, Kinger can still eat food, as shown in the Pilot episode and the Stargazing adventure in "Untitled". He has been in the Circus longer than any other character, which Jax believes is why he's the most psychologically unstable of them all.[4] Even Zooble believes Kinger would have been the first one to abstract due to his paranoia. It is possible Kinger has been in the Circus since 1995, as "Meet Kinger!", his reveal teaser, ends with the message "coming 1995...". Both his and Bubble's reveal teasers are connected. He had a pillow fort, which Kinger named his "impenetrable fortress" which he would hide in to protect himself. As his hands are not connected to his body, they can be pulled away endlessly, as seen when he grabs Zooble in the PILOT and Pomni in The Mystery Of Mildenhall Manor. He seems to associate tall, bright things with beauty and by extension, Queenie, as when seeing the Angel for the first time, he becomes wide-eyed instead of scared and says "You look beautiful, Honey". One of the crossed-out performers in the "PILOT" resembles a dark queen chess piece with a red robe, who is confirmed to be named Queenie.[5] Considering Queenie's icon is crossed out, it's implied that she abstracted before the events of the PILOT. The Mystery Of Mildenhall Manor confirms she was his wife and has abstracted. Though he touched the abstracted Queenie, Kinger didn't have a glitched hand. This may imply Abstracted circus members only make people glitch when angry or it may have been an error. In the "PILOT" after Zooble gets spat out of the Gloink Queen, he asks whether they experienced a game show in the former's stomach. This is a reference to the Gastral Giveaway in Gooseworx's previous projects "Little Runmo" and "Elaine the Bounty Hunter". It changes in the Latin American dubbing, saying "You didn't experience a Turkish novel in there, did you?" in reference to Maureen Herman (Zooble's voice in Latin America) has dubbed many Turkish series into Latin Spanish. Kinger knows how to play chess. He spent 7 years studying computer science (Confirmed by him in "The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor"). He has an insect collection and an interest in insects, having been prompted out of his fort by the mention of insects. This is later revealed to have been something his wife had managed to get him to like due to her own interest in entomology. Kinger uses a shotgun left handed. This shows that he's left handed. Kinger is seen sleeping without his gloves in the official LINE stickers.
