The Non-Player Characters, NPCs for short are the main antagonists

They are various different artificial intelligences generated by the series antagonist, Caine, who present various obstacles to the human main cast.

many NPCs are simply background filler or non-hostile beings who present no harm to the main cast.

Abstraction is an irreversible process that humans in The Amazing Digital Circus undergo when their entire psychological state becomes too unstable. Since there is no cure for Abstraction, Caine places any newly abstracted character in the Cellar, cut off from the rest of the Digital Circus.

The Abstracted appear as black monsters consisting of a semi-amorphous mass of jagged, polygonal spikes that rapidly shift and roil about, appearing somewhat iridescent like oil. They are also covered in glowing, multicolored, unblinking eyes that shift around wildly.

The Amazing Digital Circus is a three-dimensional, open-world simulation program created by Caine that serves as the main setting of its eponymous web series. Its world is run by the wacky ringmaster A.I. with human minds trapped in the forms of cartoon character avatars.

The main hubworld of The Amazing Digital Circus is divided into four locations: the Tent, the Grounds, the Void and the Cellar. In the pilot, Pomni finds a replica of an office outside the virtual reality game through an exit door.

All activities and adventures are planned by Caine as entertainment to the inhabitants in order to keep their sanity, however, due to the inhabitants' intense desire to exit the world, they are subject to end up going insane and become abstracted. Caine has the ability to create portals to transport the inhabitants to other worlds inside the game, such as the Candy Canyon Kingdom.

The Amazing Digital Circus has a pretty wonky and lazily-made physics engine. For example, in the Pilot, Pomni saw a vase with a blue flower getting bugged out by the collision.

This game is rated for all ages, as all foul words or gestures get censored with a mark Censorbarboing.

Caine was dressed as a ringmaster, sporting a pinkish-red tuxedo with gold lining, a black collar, and a bowtie with white outlines. He wore a white undershirt with two reddish buttons on it, alongside white gloves and black leggings. Lacking most human features, his head was formed as a pair of dentures with pearly-white teeth and red gums. His eyes, the left one with a green iris and the right one with a blue iris, float inside the jaw. Due to the cartoonish nature of the animation style, his jaws were expressive, moving as a mouth when speaking, while sometimes with the top row of teeth acting as eyebrows at times. Similarly to Bubble, he forms a tongue when needed. To cap it off, he wore a black top hat and tends to hold a gold-tipped baton depending on the situation.

Caine was depicted as a nonsensical, over-the-top, vivacious ringleader. However, there was a distance about him and a significant disconnection towards the traumatic events that the humans experience, illustrated by his forgetfulness of Zooble's criticisms of their own form and his adventures, as well as his apparent lack of concern towards the abstracted.

Ragatha's appearance resembles that of a humanoid ragdoll with shoulder-length, yarn-like red hair in a long bob cut, black eyebrows, a flat, reddish-orange triangular nose, and a dark blue button as her right eye. She wears a mid-sleeve long light blue dress (which often appears purple due to warm lighting)[3] with darker blue patches sewn on.

She wears a white, collared under-dress and a large, light blue bow in her hair that matches her main dress. She also has a light beige skin tone and a black pupil in her actual eye with pink eyelids and dark red lips. Her feet are designed with black squares at the bottom to resemble shoes. When she holds her breath, her hair goes up in the air.

Ragatha is described as "the sweetest little optimist." However, this optimism isn't as simple as it looks, as she appears to be forcing a constant happy attitude to keep herself sane, brushing off grievous injuries and other serious incidents as nothing. Gangle mentioned that Ragatha can be perceived as being disingenuous with her optimism after a while. Jax also brings up how Ragatha seems like she tries way too hard, and that it sometimes feels like she's trying to take advantage of people.

Her ensemble resembles that of a jester, rather than that of a circus clown like Kaufmo. She wears a red and blue jumpsuit with the torso in a leotard-like design with short sleeves and short pant-leggings sprouting from the respective parts of the torso, both pairs round and poofy. Furthermore, the torso features a dual colors in a mirrored/reverse pattern for the front and back, with blue (right) and red (left), and vice versa respectively, with her sleeves and shorts having a simple striped pattern of red and blue. She has additional yellow accents, being a pair of spheres on her front torso (which could resemble pom-poms or buttons), round, hoop shapes (which could resemble comically large rings) around the ends of her sleeves, between the hem of her torso and right above her shorts, and the ends of her shorts. Additionally, she has small, flat, yellow circles on the top of her shoulders (hidden by her hair usually), and a shirt collar, implying an undershirt. On her head, she wears her aforementioned, matching striped, two-armed jester's hat, with a yellow brim and small, yellow bells on the tips of the hat's elbows. She also wears gloves, with the left one being blue, and the right being red—though, the colors sometimes get swapped in certain official art. Inverse to this and similar with her torso pattern, her left shoe is red, and her right shoe is blue—both pairs having yellow accents, being on the hem of the gloves and right above her shoes, similar to the aforementioned rings for both.

Initially, Pomni has a high-strung, shy, and tense demeanor. In the pilot episode, she is shown to be extremely anxious and troubled regarding her predicament, even succumbing to denial and exhibiting signs of delusion. When she finds the "exit", she experiences moderate signs of paranoia and believes she is hallucinating.

Gangle appears to be made up of four Red Ribbons that form a humanoid shape. Her face is a white porcelain mask with black eyes and mouth. Her body consists of the main mass of the ribbons that curl, making a spring shape that spirals four times, two ribbons that form her legs, and a single ribbon for her arms (one end is the right arm, while the other end is her left arm). Whenever her Comedy Mask gets broken or removed, her next mask appears, switching to a sad version of the former, clarified by Gooseworx as her Tragedy Mask.

It is said when she holds her breath her masks start spinning.

Gangle's emotions and behavior are influenced by which mask she is currently wearing. However, it is revealed that these masks do not completely change her mood, rather they are a literal form of "masking" and are not the sole deciders of her personality. The masks merely change the way Gangle's feelings are presented. When she has her Comedy Mask, her tone, posture, and behavior is masked as pleasant, upbeat, and extroverted. Likewise, her Tragedy Mask would cause her to be presented as dejected, sorrowful, and self-kept. Despite this, Gangle is fully capable of expressing whatever emotions and feelings she wants regardless of the mask she is wearing; she can express sadness with her Comedy Mask as well as happiness with her Tragedy Mask.

Zooble is very grouchy and irritable and can be seen getting quite annoyed when a piece of them happens to be in the wrong place parts that make them resemble a Mix-and-Match toy, which is reflected by the fact that most parts of their body change after every episode. Despite this, some features are consistent throughout the series:

Zooble's head has been a hot pink isosceles triangle tilted onto its side. Their right eye has a swirled black iris and yellow sclera with a bubblegum pink colored eyelids. Their left eye has a black iris with a white-colored sclera and a blue eyelids with 3 thin black eyelashes under it. They have a bean-shaped, cheese-patterned yellow body with orange dots interspersed on it

they suffer an identity crisis as they don't exactly know what they are, leading to them having body/gender dysphoria, and despite Caine's attempts to provide Zooble new parts, they have yet to find anything they like.

Jax is a tall, anthropomorphic periwinkle cartoon rabbit whose design elements evoke the look of rubber hose characters, despite having actual joints. He has long bunny ears on the top of his oval-shaped head, and his overall build is tall and slender, with a rather long neck. Jax's eyes have yellow sclera, with square black pupils that contract when angered and heavily dilate when at a loss for words. Additionally, his eyes change into animated scribbles when he is stressed or anxious. Jax's yellow teeth usually have a flat shape to them, but when his mouth is opened, his teeth appear sharp and jagged. Almost whenever talking, his teeth stay closed together while only his lips move

Jax wears light, pink-colored overalls and pale-yellow gloves. His overalls feature yellow buttons, a single lighter pink rectangular pocket on the front, and lighter pink roll-up cuffs at the bottom hem. He is usually barefoot.

Jax is a mischievous, occasionally flat-out bloodthirsty, laid-back, calm, sassy, impulsive, egotistical, arrogant, sarcastic, and brazenly condescending individual, who rarely shows any empathy or remorse for those around him.

He is the oldest and tallest character in The Amazing Digital Circus.

He, Zooble, Orbsman, their evil counterparts, and the Mannequins are the only characters who don't have a mouth.

He has been in the Circus longer than any other character, which Jax believes is why he's the most psychologically unstable of them all.[4] Even Zooble believes Kinger would have been the first one to abstract due to his paranoia.

He had a pillow fort, which Kinger named his "impenetrable fortress" which he would hide in to protect himself.

Digital physiology: Kinger is one of the trapped humans inside the digital world with his consciousness piloting a digital avatar. Because of this, he can perform abilities that are outside of the general range of normal human capabilities. Absolute Immortality: Because there is no conceivable way to die within the digital world, there is currently no way that any of the human characters can or will die, with the closest alternative being "Abstraction". However this may change in the future. Self-Sustenance: Kinger along with the other humans in the show do not need to eat, sleep, or drink. However, they can still do these actions if they choose.

Detachable parts: Kinger can detach parts of his body, as shown in the episode "The Mystery of Mildenhall Manor", where he uses his eye to check the Hall of the Damned from within, and "Untitled", where he considers using it as a softball. He is even willing to use it to help the others in the adventures, as shown during the softball adventure (before he uses Zooble's eye because the dimensions are more accurate to that of a regular softball). Glowing: Kinger can glow if he holds his breath. This was demonstrated when he and Pomni walked through hell towards the exit in Episode 3.

Manifestation: Much like all human inhabitants, Kinger is shown to be able to manifest concepts into the circus. He demonstrates it by conjuring a butterfly in Episode 6, and to a far greater extent when he conjures a computer's power and even conjures Caine's code into it. According to Kinger, this requires a great amount of concentration and imagination. Healing: Through his manifestation of a butterfly, Kinger was able to replenish one of Ragatha's hearts. When asked about it by Ragatha, Kinger tells her that "he made it up".

Kinger is shown as erratic and paranoid, most likely derived from his time in the circus. He also displays an absent-mindedness since he seems to often forget the fact that people are near him and are startled by them, like Gangle. Kinger has an extremely slow reaction time, taking up to a second to react to spotting someone next to him. Kinger also seems to be interested in insects, since he is shown to ramble about an "insect collection" at times. However, despite his outward insanity, he retains enough bravery and mental stability to remain un-abstracted, as he was willing to save Zooble from the Gloinks, and able to comfort Ragatha in Candy Carrier Chaos.

When Kinger is left in a dark area, he experiences a major shift in behavior,

When in this state, he appears to have a much better grip on his sanity, with his fear and paranoia subsiding, with his voice even becoming less high-pitched. Consequently, Kinger reveals a wiser and more compassionate side to him

Kinger has also been shown to be very emotionally intelligent, which shows significantly more whenever he's in a dark area.

Kinger is an alder wood-colored king chess piece. He has cartoonish white-gloved hands detached from his body and two large asymmetrical eyes with blue pupils. Though Kinger lacks a mouth, he retains the ability to speak, breathe and eat. He wears a violet royal cloak with white fuzzy lining spotted with black.
