Taehyung pressed himself against the cold glass of the balcony, watching Jungkook laugh below, throwing his head back and casually touching their mutual friend's hand. That laughter, ringing and free, cut through Taehyung. He was a shadow at these parties, a silent ghost, while Jungkook shone like a beacon, dishing out smiles and backhanded compliments left and right.

"Why never me?" the thought burned like a persistent ember. Taehyung caught his every glance, hoping, but Jungkook only nodded at him as if he were an acquaintance, just someone he hung out with. Not a hint of the game he played with everyone.

The evening dragged on incredibly long. Jungkook, unbuttoning another button on his shirt, climbed onto the couch to make a toast. His gaze slid around the room and… lingered on Taehyung. Not for a second, but for an eternity. A flicker of not the familiar gleam of amusement flashed in his brown eyes, but something warm, deep, almost questioning.

As he passed, Jungkook, intentionally or not, brushed shoulders with Taehyung. The contact sent shivers down his spine.

"Being bored here alone?" His voice was quiet, just for the two of them, a low velvet tone that held no trace of the usual flirtation. There was only a strange tension.

Taehyung, whose heart was now pounding wildly against his ribs, only nodded, not trusting his voice.

“I’m tired of this noise,” Jungkook brought his lips close to his ear, his breath burning his skin. — Let's go for a walk? For some fresh air.
