The unloved brother.

Since the fire in his house, caused by his father in a fit of madness while trying to kill his mother and siblings, Tadhg's life had turned into chaos. Now, he lived in the house of Johnny Kavanagh, his older sister Shannon's boyfriend, and this made him feel more alone than ever. His whole life had been marked by loneliness: no friends, no parents to take care of him, no girlfriends, only his siblings. And now, the discomfort of living under Johnny's roof made him feel like a constant burden.

What Tadhg didn't realize was the girl next door, who silently watched him every time he went out to walk the dogs or to hurling practice.

On a rainy day in Cork, while returning from training, completely soaked, he saw that girl. She was standing in front of a tree, talking to it with a mixture of frustration and worry.

"What the hell is this?..." Tadhg thought. On any other day, he would have moved on, too tired and wet to get involved in other people's problems, but something about her caught his attention. A latent and sudden curiosity pushed him to approach.

With slow steps, he advanced toward the girl, who was still talking to the tree. When he got close enough, he understood the situation: a frightened kitten was perched on a branch, meowing weakly.

"What the hell are you doing?" he asked, in his habitually gruff tone, but a glint of interest shone in his eyes.
