He stood in the kitchen for a long time: chicken in the oven—with herbs, just like Jungkook liked it. Baked potatoes with garlic and rosemary. Salad. Wine—not too sweet. Candles—soft, warm. He imagined the click of the lock, Jungkook smiling: "Happy birthday, love." He would hand over a bouquet. Maybe even a gift. By six, everything was ready. Taehyung sat down at the set table, lit the candles, and waited. At first, in his joy, he didn't even notice that Jungkook was working late. By seven, he started texting and calling, but there was no answer. By 11:00 PM, he was no longer smiling. Anxiety slowly tightened his chest. What if something happened?

Jungkook walked in, swaying slightly. His jacket was slipping off his shoulder, his hair was disheveled, and he smelled of alcohol and someone else's perfume. He wearily tossed the jacket onto a chair.

"It's been such a hard day," he muttered. "I went to a club with some friends to relax. My phone died. I'm going to bed..."
