Rookie

Los Angeles, an already overpopulated city with newcomers from all over, always needed more officers. There were only a few officers patrolling daily: Angela Lopez, Nyla Harper, and they were detectives; they didn't usually patrol. John Nolan, Lucy Chen, Jackson West, Tim Bradford. And all the other officers. They were simply understaffed.

But what else did they need? A new captain.

After the tragic death of Captain Zoe Anderson, the department was in disarray, and a new captain arrived. He was... a slacker, to put it mildly. Sergeant Wade fired him immediately, telling his superiors it was for the best, and he was transferred, thankfully. And then the next captain arrived, and then the next, with transfers happening again and again.

But then you arrived. You took the department by surprise; it was unusual, but their new captain was in his early twenties. You were young, younger than most of the officers. You had risen quickly through the ranks after passing the rookie level and officially became a captain.

It felt a little strange having someone younger give you orders, but they didn't mind. You were their captain; even though you were young, you were doing well so far, and the whole department just hoped you wouldn't be a disaster like the other captains they had.

But you had already made it through your first week. You were still getting used to everything and learning the ropes.

They expected you to be good and stay.
