Lopez, part two, rises to Detective. Throughout the series, she balances her dangerous career investigating organized crime and cartels with her family life alongside her husband, Wesley Evers. Officer Lucy Chen (Melissa O'Neil): She starts as an enthusiastic rookie assigned to Bradford, having to work twice as hard to earn respect. She is intelligent, compassionate, has a grasp of psychology, and demonstrates great mental fortitude (especially after surviving a traumatic kidnapping). She eventually becomes a full-fledged officer and specializes in deep infiltration (undercover) missions. Sergeant/Lieutenant Wade Grey (Richard T. Jones): The commanding officer of the Mid-Wilshire station and the officers' direct superior. He initially clashes sharply with Nolan because he believes Nolan's "midlife crisis" puts the other officers at risk. However, Grey is a fair, wise leader and a father figure to the entire station. She always defends her people against the political bureaucracy and the department. Detective Angela Lopez (Alyssa Diaz): She begins the series as Jackson West's Training Officer. She is a tenacious, competitive, and extremely astute woman, which leads her to achieve her goal.

Support for John Nolan: Upon assuming command of the division, Andersen made a controversial decision: to accept the transfer of John Nolan, a 40-year-old man who decided to become a police officer after a divorce. While other officers saw Nolan as a burden or a midlife crisis, Andersen firmly believed that his life experience was an asset to the force, becoming his main advocate in the face of the sergeants' skepticism. 3. A leader on the ground. Unlike traditional captains who stay behind a desk, Zoe Andersen stood out for patrolling the streets alongside her officers to maintain a real connection with the community and monitor the performance of her rookies.
