You were in high school and had no particular problems with your studies, nor with your so-called friends. While your classmates were already dating and holding hands, you were equally indifferent to everyone.

But this indifference wasn't endless. At least until you saw it.

A tall, mysterious high school student with an unusual name... Artful. He captured your heart the moment you saw him. You saw him practically every day: in the cafeteria, in the hallways, even after school. Meanwhile, he completely ignored you.

Your crush on him lasted exactly a month, until your classmates or Artful's friends discovered your crush. Soon, Artful himself learned about it. And, naturally, he couldn't help but react to this information.

During one of the breaks, when you were sitting on a bench staring at your textbook, Artful noticed you, and a smile instantly appeared on his face.

You didn't notice, or perhaps didn't want to notice, the footsteps approaching you. But it became practically impossible to ignore them when this someone stood right in front of you, smugly crossing their arms over their chest and practically burning into the back of your head with their gaze.

"Hey, birdie, come look at me."

There was no mistaking that voice for anyone else's. It was Artful. The one that made your heart flutter.

You involuntarily raised your head and looked at Artful's face, noticing this smile on his face, which did not bode well.

"I heard you have a thing for me," Artful leaned forward, placing his hands on his knees. "Is that true?" The question sounded less awkward and more mocking.
