Description: "Artful is a French Magician who's had a deep connection to magic since birth, and WAS a popular celebrity before his... "incident." After one of his performances went particularly badly, Artful let his emotions get better of him and resorted to "taking out his frustrations on his entire audience." He now lives his life as a criminal on the run, too afraid to turn himself in and deal with the consequences of his actions."

About: Artful is one of the multiple killers in Die of Death. He costs 700. He is a trapper who relies on both his base abilities and their benefits while utilizing Repurpose to chase down survivors and do consistent, albeit low damage. Artful REQUIRES the player using it to be smart, as his lower stamina and low damage make him struggle without proper use.

Artful appears as a black and white Robloxian with angry face, dressed in formal attire, including a suit, tie, and wide top hat. His body is primarily dark with white arms and a white decal on the torso, resembling a tuxedo. His face is covered by a half-broken black mask. He also wields a magic wand that emits white colored sparkles.

Playstyle: Resource Management / Trapper

Swing = Artful swings his wand forwards, dealing 20 damage to anyone he strikes.

"With a flick of my wand- I bring your wildest dreams- into reality...!"

Implement = After a quick animation, Artful creates a wall that slowly rises up out of the floor over time at his position. The wall's health scales with how many Civilians are currently alive, getting more frail the less Civilians there are. Walls will have their health naturally drain over time, but can be attacked to make them go down faster. There is no limit on how many walls can be active at a time.

Copywrite = After a longer animation, Artful creates a Music Box where he is currently standing. The music box will passively slow whoever is in it's range, one person at a time. The music box CAN be destroyed, but does not passively lose health over time. He can only have 2 Music Boxes active at a time, attempting to create another will have no effect.

"Like what you hear? All the music here is made by yours Truly! You can buy it at the Giftshop!"

Repurpose = Artful quickly pauses, and reaches forwards with his wand, "Pocketing" whatever he hits. This Ability changes depending on what Artful "Pockets." Pocketing a Wall allows Artful throw a wall forwards condensed into a cube, moving fast and dealing 15 damage on hit. Does not have splash damage. Pocketing a Music Box allows Artful to buff himself using it. The Music Box floats above him, and gives him sizable speed increase for a short duration. "Pocketing" a Civilian allows Artful to create a Puppet. The Puppet has a brief animation of being summoned, before actively hunting down the nearest Civilian to it, stopping at nothing until it reaches it's target. Similar to walls, the Puppet has naturally draining health, and perishes when it's empty, it can also be attacked to be killed early. If the Puppet reaches and attacks someone, it deals 15 damage per hit.

"Who's to say you can't teach an old magician new tricks?"

Artful received a new running animation in the Harken Update.

Artful previously dealt 25 damage per wand swish, making him the strongest damaging killer in the game. He has since been taken back down to 20 and given the Repurpose ability.

Artful is a civilian, explaining his low health. Without his outfit, makeup and mask, he looks like regular civilian, as confirmed by the Die of Death developers on a question and answer forum post. ^ The other Killers do not care that he is technically a civilian. ^^ Killdroid is the only one that recognizes Artful as a civilian but not WHO Artful is because of his mask and it drives Killdroid crazy.

Artful's birthday is on May 5th.

Artful has a pet goldfish named Goldie.

Artful is likely to be inspired by the old building tools (specifically the Copy tool).

Artful's old name used to be Infestent before the game's release.

The name of Artful's chase theme "Est-ce ta carte" means "Is this your card" in French. ^ Funnily enough, there had a misspelling in the official theme Youtube video, where it's spelled "Est-ce te carte" instead of "Est-ce ta carte", which turns the meaning into "Do you card yourself".

Artful has been confirmed to be French as shown in his in-game bio.

Artful is the first DoD character to have UGC.

Artful's name means "(of a person or action) clever or skillful, typically in a crafty or cunning way.".

Artful has a scrapped ability which would've caused Artful to use his clone tool to split himself into 3 minions that chase the nearest survivor at a randomized walkspeed. ^ Although this idea was slightly reused with the addition of the repurpose ability.

Artful is the only Killer to not have an antithesis, or opposite, skin, like how Pursuer has Avoider, Badware has Goodware, Killdroid has Livedroid, and Harken has Sonorous, an inverted-colour version of her. ^ This is most likely because inverted Artful would look almost identical due to him being monochrome.

Artful is bald.

Artful (Along with his skin Devesto) are both in Forsaken - as of the Noli Update - as Noli Skins.

Artful's "copywrite" music box plays "Sonata.16 in C major (K. 545)" (oddly but obviously enough, not being copyright).

Artful's previous job was performing his duty as a construction worker. ^ Artful’s Builder skin shows us how he may have looked like back then. ^ Artful was involved in an accident that resulted in him getting paid leave. He used his free time to go back into studying magic, and as a result, he learned how to do real magic instead of mere tricks. He hence changed his career to turn into a full time magician.
