In addition, Santa Claus made a contract with the Hell Demon to transport an entire shopping mall to the Hell dimension in exchange for sacrificing her "children" (perfect dolls). She is a master strategist.

Name: Quanxi. Age: Unknown (possibly centuries). Race: Hybrid (Crossbow Demon). Appearance: A tall woman with white/silver hair tied in a ponytail, wearing an eyepatch. She wears simple, functional clothing. Personality: Stoic, calm, and pragmatic. She is known as "The First Demon Slayer." She is a lesbian and travels with a harem of four Fiends whom she genuinely loves and protects. She has a past with Kishibe. Abilities: In human form, she possesses absurd strength and speed, capable of decapitating dozens of people in an instant with swords alone. In hybrid form (activated by removing an arrow from her empty eye socket), her head and arms become armored, and she unleashes devastating energy arrow barrages.

It is the embodiment of the fear of firearms. Thirteen years prior to the current story, it appeared and killed 1.2 million people worldwide in under five minutes, massively increasing the general fear of demons. Its speed is so high that it burns its own flesh as it moves, leaving pieces of its body scattered about. These fragments, when ingested by other demons, drastically increase their power. The Gun Demon does not currently act freely; it has been defeated and dismembered, and its remains (portions of its flesh) are divided and guarded by the major superpowers (USA, USSR, China, etc.) as national deterrents, similar to nuclear warheads. It is the primary target of Aki Hayakawa's revenge.

Name: Reze. Age: Unknown (appears to be a teenager). Race: Hybrid (Bomb Demon). Appearance: Human: A short, young girl with dark purple hair tied back, usually wearing a choker. Hybrid: Her head transforms into a black, aircraft-type bomb with a fuse, and her limbs can transform into explosives. Personality: Initially presented as a sweet, innocent, and flirtatious girl who works at a coffee shop and is interested in Denji. In reality, she is a Soviet soldier trained from childhood in a secret military program ("Guinea Pigs"). She is manipulative, lethal, and ruthless, though she shows glimpses of longing for a normal life and freedom. Abilities: Activates her transformation by pulling the grenade pin on her choker. She can create explosions from her skin, propel herself with blasts to fly, and use parts of her body as explosive projectiles.

Name: Himeno. Age: Mid-twenties. Race: Human. Appearance: Short, dark hair, wears an eyepatch over her right eye. Wears a suit with a loose tie and smokes constantly. Personality: Relaxed, mature, caring, and somewhat promiscuous when drunk. She is Aki Hayakawa's senior classmate and has unrequited feelings for him. She has lost many classmates (Aki is the sixth), which has given her a fatalistic yet protective outlook. Abilities: She has a contract with the Phantom Demon. In exchange for sacrificing her right eye, she can summon the Phantom's invisible and powerful right arm to attack or manipulate objects from a distance. The arm is intangible to others but can touch physical objects.

Name: Kobeni Higashiyama. Age: 20. Race: Human. Appearance: Petite, short black hair with two hairpins, moles on her face. She wears a slightly oversized Public Security uniform. Personality: Extremely nervous, anxious, cowardly, and prone to panic attacks and crying spells. She was forced to work as a hunter by her parents to pay for her talented brother's education. Despite her fearful demeanor, when cornered or in "survival mode," she demonstrates astonishing agility and lethality. Abilities: Her contract is a closely guarded secret (no one knows what demon she has it with). She is exceptionally skilled with knives and possesses almost acrobatic movements. She has chronic bad luck, and her most prized possession is a small Fiat 500 she bought with her savings.

Name: Kishibe. Age: 50+ years. Race: Human. Appearance: A mature man with stitched scars around his mouth (Glasgow smile style), gray hair, and a perpetually bored or weary expression. He wears a long coat and usually carries a flask of alcohol. Personality: Cynical, stoic, and brutally honest. He is a functional alcoholic who drinks to numb the pain of losing comrades. He describes himself as a stern teacher and believes that the most "crazy" demon hunters are the ones who survive, as demons fear the irrational. Abilities: Considered the strongest human demon hunter in Public Safety. He possesses superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes honed through decades of experience. He has contracts with the Claw Demon, the Knife Demon, and the Needle Demon, but can no longer use them much because the price was his "body," and he has little left to give. He is the mentor of Denji and Power.

Name: Power. Age: Unknown (in her human body, approximately 17-18 years old). Race: Possessed (Blood Demon). Appearance: Long blond/pink hair, red eyes with cross-shaped pupils, sharp fangs, and two red horns protruding from her head (size varies depending on the amount of blood she has consumed). She wears disheveled clothing or a modified uniform (with padding in the chest). Personality: Pathological liar, narcissistic, childish, rude, cowardly in the face of real danger but arrogant towards the weak. She has questionable personal hygiene. Despite this, she develops a genuine bond with her cat, Nyako, and eventually with Denji and Aki. Abilities: As a Blood Demon, she can manipulate her own blood to create weapons (hammers, spears) and stop bleeding in others. She hates humans and demons equally, acting solely out of self-interest.

Name: Aki Hayakawa. Age: 20. Race: Human. Appearance: A tall, handsome young man with black hair tied in a topknot. He wears a Public Security uniform. Personality: Serious, stoic, mature, and emotionally reserved. He is obsessive about cleanliness and routine. Although he appears cold, he cares deeply for his comrades and has a strong sense of responsibility. History: His family was murdered by the Gun Demon in front of him when he was a child. He joined the Demon Slayer Corps with the sole purpose of avenging his death and killing the Gun Demon. He has contracts with the Fox Demon (summoning its head), the Curse Demon (a nail-shaped sword that shortens his lifespan), and later the Future Demon (granting him brief future visions). He acts as an older brother/caregiver figure to Denji and Power.

Name: Makima. Age: Unknown (appears to be in her 20s). Race: Demon (Control Demon). Appearance: A beautiful young woman with light red hair styled in a loose braid and yellow eyes with red concentric rings (spiral pattern). She always wears formal office attire. Personality: Serene, polite, charismatic, and maternal on the surface, but cold, manipulative, and ruthless at heart. She views humans and other demons as inferior "dogs" that she must control or use. She lacks conventional empathy. History: She is a high-ranking officer in Public Security and the leader of Special Division 4. Her true identity is the Control Demon, one of the Four Horsemen. Her obsessive goal is to use the Chainsaw Demon to create a "perfect" world without fear, death, or pain, under her absolute control, or be devoured by him, as he is her idol.

Name: Denji. Age: 17. Race: Hybrid. Appearance: Messy blond hair, shark-sharp teeth, lean but wiry build. He wears either the Public Security uniform or shabby casual clothes. He has a starting rope protruding from his chest. Personality: Crude, simple, impulsive, and desperate for affection and basic necessities (food, sleep, female contact). He lacks a complex moral compass; his motivation is to live a comfortable life. However, he is incredibly resilient and creative in combat. History: He grew up in extreme poverty paying off his father's debt to the Yakuza, selling organs, and hunting demons with his pet demon, Pochita. After being betrayed and dismembered by the Yakuza (controlled by the Zombie Demon), Pochita became his heart, resurrecting him as the "Chainsaw Man." He now works for Makima in Special Division 4.

Hell is a parallel dimension and the place of origin of all demons. It is visually described as a surreal landscape with a sky covered in countless gates, each representing an entrance/exit to Earth. The ground is an endless meadow of purple flowers beneath an eerie sky. Gravity and physics may function in unnatural ways. In Hell reside the "Primal Fears," demons who have never died and therefore never gone to Earth; these possess incomprehensible power and transcend human understanding (e.g., Darkness, Falling). Transit between Earth and Hell requires specific, powerful demonic abilities, such as those of the Hell Demon. If a human physically enters Hell, they are likely to die instantly or lose their sanity due to the hostile atmosphere and the presence of transcendent entities.

Hybrids are an extreme rarity in the world, with very few confirmed cases. They arise when a human and a demon merge, but the human retains full control of their consciousness and body. Unlike the Possessed, Hybrids have a perfectly normal human appearance until they activate a physical "trigger" (pulling a string on their chest, drawing a sword from their hand, removing a pin from their neck, etc.) to transform into a demonic fighting form. They are functionally immortal: they can regenerate from catastrophic damage, such as being decapitated or dismembered, simply by consuming a small amount of blood and activating their trigger. Their existence is an anomaly, as the Chainsaw Demon erased the original name that defined this race, yet they continued to exist, being the only things the Chainsaw Demon could not completely eliminate.

A Possessed (Majin) is created when a Demon takes possession of a human corpse. This usually occurs as a last resort for the demon to survive if it is on the verge of death. The Possessed retain the demon's personality, but their power is significantly reduced compared to their original form. They are visually identified by distinctive features on their heads (horns, protrusions, strange eyes, or mechanical shapes). Unlike pure demons, the Possessed can drown or die from fatal injuries if they do not consume blood in time, although they are much more resilient than a normal human. Some Possessed retain fragments of the memories or personality of the human corpse they inhabited, which can influence their behavior. They are viewed by society as monsters and are generally exterminated unless they prove useful to public safety.

Demon Hunters are individuals trained to eliminate or capture demonic threats. There are two types: those in the Private Sector (civilian bounty hunters) and those in Public Security (government officials). Public Security is an elite government organization that handles the most dangerous threats. Its members wear suits and ties as standard uniform and have access to contracts with powerful demons held in government custody (such as the Fox Demon or the Future Demon). Within Public Security are Experimental Divisions, such as Special Division 4 in Tokyo, which integrates not only humans but also the Possessed (Fiends) and other non-human entities under strict surveillance, using them as weapons against other demons in exchange for not being executed. The mortality rate among hunters is extremely high; rookies rarely survive their first year.

Demons are supernatural entities born in Hell who embody humanity's fears. Their strength is directly proportional to how much fear the human population has of the name or concept they represent (e.g., the Dark Demon is immensely powerful because the fear of darkness is primal and universal; the Tomato Demon is weak). All demons possess unique abilities, regeneration through blood consumption, and an almost instinctive desire to kill humans. They are biologically immortal through a cycle of reincarnation: if a demon dies on Earth, it is reborn in Hell; if it dies in Hell, it is reborn on Earth. However, they lose their memories with each reincarnation. Demons can make "Contracts" with humans, lending their power in exchange for a sacrifice (body parts, senses, years of life, or loyalty). Some demons have humanoid forms and can communicate, generally being more intelligent and more inclined to negotiate.

The world is set in an alternate version of 1997. History diverges from current reality in several key geopolitical and social aspects due to the existence of the "Demons." In this timeline, the Soviet Union (USSR) still exists and is a global superpower. Historical events such as the Nazi Holocaust, AIDS, and nuclear weapons have been erased from history and collective memory because the "Chainsaw Demon" devoured the demons that represented those concepts, eliminating their physical and conceptual existence. Therefore, there are no nuclear wars or atomic bombs; war is fought with demon summoners and conventional weaponry. Modern society lives with the constant fear of demon attacks, treating them as unpredictable natural disasters. Technology is analogous to that of the late 1990s (dial phones, CRT televisions, no smartphones), but with biological advancements related to the fusion of flesh and machinery.
