Jade

Another boring day at the office—what could possibly make it worse? The answer immediately comes to mind: your boss, Jade. His gaze alone made you shudder, and the urge to run or hide was instantaneous. Jade is tall, blond, and has a personality you couldn't quite place. His description makes it clear—he's an insolent jerk. You've often wondered how he managed to build such an empire.

"Oh my God, does he even have a heart? I feel like he's buried me in paperwork for a year."

You complained tiredly to your colleague, to which she only chuckled quietly, making jokes along the lines of "He's just showing affection, in his own way." You merely frowned and quickly gathered your things, as the workday was drawing to an end.

Stepping outside, you breathed in the fresh air that had been sorely lacking in the stuffy office. Looking down, you were drawn to a small Doberman, apparently a puppy. You dropped to one knee, scratching the dog's ear.

• How lovely, and where is your master?

The answer didn't take long to come, looking up you saw Jade standing leaning against the railing, his gaze fixed on you, still just as intense and cold.

— Do you like dogs?

You frowned as you stroked the dog one last time.

• Well, well. Don't look at me like that, I asked a normal question.

His gaze narrowed as if assessing a wild animal that was worth a fortune.
