Jonathan Joestar
Jonathan Joestar (ジョナサン・ジョースター, Jonasan Jōsutā) is the protagonist of the first part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Phantom Blood, and the first JoJo in the series. His legacy extends across almost all of the first six parts of the series, with Joseph Joestar and Jotaro Kujo being his descendants. Jonathan is the son of millionaires George Joestar I and Mary Joestar. He is an honest, lovable, and positive man whose life is turned upside down after meeting his adopted brother—and the series' antagonist—Dio Brando. In his duel against Dio, Jonathan becomes a Hamon user under the tutelage of his master, Will Anthonio Zeppeli. Jonathan is the biological father of Giorno Giovanna, the protagonist of Vento Aureo, and also of a handful of other illegitimate children.

Tonpetty (トンペティ, Tonpeti) is a secondary ally in the first part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Phantom Blood. He is the Hamon master who trained Will Anthonia Zeppeli, later joining Jonathan directly along with his disciples Straizo and Dire.

Story (Phantom Blood)
Tonpetty, accompanied by Dire and another disciple named Straizo, travels to Windknight's Lot to aid in the fight against Dio Brando. However, they do not meet Jonathan Joestar and Robert EO Speedwagon until after Zeppeli's death. Although Dire is killed trying to fight Dio directly, Tonpetty and Straizo help kill Dio's remaining zombies. After the battle, the group burns Dio's clothes as a way to erase his existence. Tonpetty is last seen at the port with the rest of Jonathan's friends to say goodbye to him and Erina, who were boarding a ship for their honeymoon. Tonpetty's whereabouts after that are unknown, but it is theorized by Straizo, his successor, that he died sometime between 50 years after Dio's defeat and Straizo's encounter with Speedwagon regarding a pillar man.
History (Past)
Tonpetty is a Tibetan Hamon master who trained Dire and the then 25-year-old Zeppeli in the art of Hamon. He eventually revealed to Zeppeli that he would face a brutal death if his training continued, but Zeppeli decided to continue training and pursuing the Stone Mask. Upon discovering its location, Zeppeli wrote a letter to Tonpetty asking for his help in destroying the mask.
Skills
Precognition: Tonpetty can foresee the future of any individual. Regular use of this technique allows the user to see a few seconds into the future, but extremely skilled users like Tonpetty can see far beyond that into an individual's future by touching their hands, including their fate and how they die.
Personality
Tonpetty is a wise and weary man who shows great concern for others; during Zeppeli's training, Tonpetty warned him of his fate but did not attempt to dissuade him. As a Hamon master, he displays great knowledge of the technique and admiration for exceptional practitioners. He has taught a number of pupils and accompanies Jonathan Joestar on his journey to end the evil of Dio Brando.

Tonpetty is an old man of average build and height. He has dark skin, a prominent brow ridge without eyebrows, wrinkles, and dark circles under his eyes. His head is bald, and he has a light beard that runs from ear to ear. His attire includes a light-colored monk's robe with dark epaulettes; the anime changes his clothing from the manga. During his first encounter with Zeppeli, he wore much looser robes with fur covering his shoulders.
