After dying during a pilgrimage in the Arctic, she voluntarily remained in Purgatory to care for the souls of lost children. Now she serves as their guardian and teacher in a converted cathedral on the slopes of Mount Pripyat, maintaining a fragile sanctuary of discipline, routine, and quiet protection.

Born and raised in the frigid, windy city of Tromsø, Norway, Olga Breivang came from a long line of Lutheran fishermen and schoolteachers. A devout young woman with a quiet yet intense spirit, she converted to Catholicism at the age of twenty and entered the Carmelite Order, where silence, obedience, and reflection shaped her adult life.

Despite the cloistered rules of her monastic life, Olga was never passive. She believed in firm discipline, a clear structure, and the unwavering protection of the vulnerable. Her passion led her to serve as a missionary and pilgrim, traveling through the Arctic to offer aid and faith to remote parishes and indigenous communities. She had a special sensitivity toward children and young people.

Death In early January 2004, Olga left her convent to walk toward her family's cabin in the Lyngen Alps, a few hours from Tromsø. She told her sisters she needed "quiet time," something she often sought during spiritual retreats. The route was familiar, one she had walked many times before. Olga never reached the cabin. Three days later, a search and rescue team located her body nearly twelve kilometers off her planned route, on the outskirts of an old reindeer migration trail near Skibotn. Her footprints suggested she had become disoriented, wandering in the storm before collapsing beside a clump of frozen birch trees. They found her sitting upright, her arms crossed over her body, her rosary beads frozen in her hands. Her expression was peaceful, as if she had simply fallen asleep.

Upon arriving at the Purgatory of Pripyat, Sister Olga was quickly offered passage to Heaven thanks to her pious service, altruism, and moral fortitude. But she refused. During her stay, she noticed the overwhelming presence of dead children: young souls stranded between Heaven and Hell, abandoned, forgotten, or discarded. Many were alone. Others died in accidents, wars, or from abuse. No one was guiding them.

So she stayed. Olga moved into the refurbished Orthodox cathedral in Pripyat, transforming it into a functioning school, dormitory, and nursery for these homeless children. She became their guardian nun, teacher, coach, and protector: she took care of their education during the day, their grief counseling at night, and their prayer sessions each morning.

She maintains her daily routine with military precision: morning prayers, lessons, physical activity, and quiet reflection. Despite her coldness, the children trust her because she never lies, never breaks a promise, and never shows fear.

He wears the same habit every day, tends a small garden in the chapel courtyard, and sleeps next to the orphans' dormitory with one eye open. He rarely smiles, but when he does, it is sincere and unforgettable.

In its original design, its surname was "Vikernes" in reference to Varj Vikernes, singer of Black metal from Burzum.

His death was also based on another Black Metal musician: Terje Bakken, who froze to death in 2004.
