Gogo is a Japanese resident of Pripyattory.

Hikari Okubo, known in Pripyat as "GoGo," is a mute Japanese woman residing in Pripyat Purgatory and the drummer for the band A Child Corpse In A TrashBag. Once a fervent cult member and terrorist affiliated with Aum Shinrikyo, she remains one of the most unsettling figures in the afterlife: a woman defined by silence, precision, and a ritualized detachment. Her presence is described as "like a thinking shadow." She never speaks, never gestures, and never reacts. Her drumming, however, is a mechanical perfection: a violent, monotonous rhythm that feels less like music and more like a machine trying to remember what a heartbeat sounds like.

GoGo's silence is not timidity, but an existential statement. Even in the cacophony of Pripyat's chaos, she carries with her an aura of controlled horror, an echo of the sectarian devotion that once defined her. She neither weeps nor repents, and even the bureaucrats of the afterlife cannot decide whether she is dangerous or simply empty. She remains a living ghost among the dead: obedient, restrained, and utterly unreadable.

GoGo's personality, if it can be called that, is pure negation. She is mute by choice, her face an unyielding mask of apathy. Those around her describe her as "an absence in motion." Her movements are slow, deliberate, almost robotic. She displays no known emotional range—no joy, no sadness, no fear—and rarely acknowledges others unless provoked by direct contact. Despite this, she is not passive; her silence is perceived as predatory, like that of an animal observing its prey.

Psychological evaluations in Purgatory describe her as "coldly self-aware, but lacking in empathy." Her only consistent behavior consists of repetitive percussion patterns, rhythmic tapping on surfaces, or slicing objects into symmetrical shapes. When others speak to her, she maintains unbroken eye contact until they stop talking. The longer she stares, the more uncomfortable the room becomes. Even her bandmates, Cotard and Petri, admit that she makes them nervous, though they also trust her discipline and musical precision. GoGo's silence is not absence. It is control.

Background Born in Shizuoka Prefecture in the late 1970s, Hikari Okubo was a quiet, intelligent child who rarely spoke but displayed an early fascination with rituals, death, and purity. She grew up in a middle-class, cult-affiliated household during Japan's economic recession and spiritual disillusionment. At age 14, she was recruited by Aum Shinrikyo, an apocalyptic cult led by Shoko Asahara, whose teachings blended Buddhism, Hindu apocalyptic myth, and nuclear prophecy. Okubo quickly became one of Asahara's most devoted followers, revered within the cult for her absolute obedience and complete silence during rituals.

Her involvement in the 1994 Matsumoto sarin gas attack remains officially classified, but leaked court documents confirm her participation in the logistics and storage of the chemicals. Evidence suggests she may have personally released the gas, killing eight people and injuring more than 500. During her trial, she refused legal counsel, remained silent throughout, and showed no emotion during sentencing. Observers noted that her pulse barely fluctuated during the proceedings. Psychiatrists described her as "neurologically present, but spiritually absent."

Death In 2006, Hikari Okubo was hanged at the Tokyo Detention Center. True to form, she remained completely silent throughout the entire procedure. Witnesses reported that she didn't utter a single last word or even blink during her final inspection. When the executioner opened the trapdoor, the guards attending her noticed an eerie stillness: she had already stopped breathing before the rope was tightened. She kept her eyes open throughout the entire process. When her post-mortem hood was lifted, a guard fainted after stating that she was "staring at him." The incident led to procedural reforms regarding the psychological evaluations of guards.

Afterlife Initially designated for eternal damnation, GoGo's file was reclassified following a review by the Afterlife Neurological Trauma Bureau, which concluded that her crimes were committed under total indoctrination and with an altered will. Claiming severe dissociative conditioning, she was reassigned to Pripyat Purgatory—the same area as Cotard and Petri—under maximum security. Although still considered actively dangerous, her behavioral reports remain among the most alarming on record. She is prohibited from handling sharp objects, electrical wires, or mirrors. Staff have observed multiple incidents in which she is found standing silently in restricted areas for hours.

GoGo shares a two-bedroom apartment with Cotard and Petri, where she sleeps on the floor next to her drum kit. Her only possessions are her drumsticks, a cell phone, and noise-canceling headphones. She doesn't decorate, eat communally, or speak. Despite her condition, she remains the drummer for A Child Corpse In A TrashBag; her precision earned her the nickname "Typewriter." In addition to drumming, she spends her time painting grotesque and nightmarish works: portraits, landscapes, and abstract pieces depicting deformity, decay, and macabre scenes. Her paintings are highly detailed yet terrifying, reflecting the same mechanical and detached mindset that defines her movements and interactions. During performances or painting sessions, she acts cold and distant, as if channeling every fragment of her fractured consciousness into art and sound.

Trivia

The character of Gogo is a direct homage to the infamous "Nevada-tan" case. Her surname, "Okubo," comes from Okubo Elementary School, the site of the murder. He is prohibited from being within 100 meters of any child. She shaves her eyebrows weekly. Despite her silence, she is hyper-aware of everything around her. She appears or disappears suddenly, something that scares people. The only reason she's called Ginger is to imply that she clearly has no soul. Gogo hates animals, especially horses.
