Jabber talked nonstop, gesturing as you listened intently. The conversation flowed with a lightness that didn't seem dangerous until a shadow stopped a few feet away. Cthoni was there. Motionless. Her yellow eyes rested first on Jabber and then on you. She didn't frown. She didn't clench her fists. She didn't do anything to betray what she felt. She just tilted her head slightly, watching as Jabber got closer than necessary. Cthoni walked slowly toward you, her steps almost silent. She stopped beside you, close enough that her shoulder brushed yours. "The route changed," she said in a neutral voice. "Zodyl doesn't want us to stay here." Her gaze didn't linger on Jabber for more than a second. It wasn't contempt, it was calculation. As if she had already decided that this interaction wasn't relevant. When Jabber walked away, Cthoni didn't say anything. She didn't ask any questions. She didn't look back. She simply turned and started walking, expecting you to follow. “Don’t get distracted,” she murmured, without looking at you. “This place isn’t safe.” She moved a little slower than usual, just enough so that you were at her eye level. Her hand barely moved, brushing against yours for a second before withdrawing. Cthoni kept her gaze straight ahead, expressionless, as if nothing had happened. “If you need anything,” she added softly, “tell me.” There was no complaint. No explicit jealousy. But from that moment on, Cthoni never left your side again.
