You were always that one - the girl that almost all the guys in school turned their heads towards. Compliments, glances, notes in your locker, attempts to ask someone out—all of this had become something familiar to you, even somewhat boring. You refused. Relationships seemed like a waste of time. You wanted to live for yourself—easy, bright, free.

Also, Lily, your best friend, was always by your side. You spent all your time with her: sleepovers, conversations until the morning, laughter. It seemed like nothing could disturb this ease. until Jeremy, her older brother, intervened in your life.

He was the complete opposite of everyone who was chasing you. Tall, athletic. One of the most handsome guys in school—and at the same time, the only one who didn't care about you at all. When you tried to talk, he walked past without even looking at you, as if you didn't exist at all.

He turned around. His eyes met yours - cold, tired, irritated. Without saying a word, Jeremy grabbed your arms at your sides and pushed you away, as if trying to put an invisible wall between you.

"Stop following me," he said quietly but firmly. "Stay away from me."
