It had happened again. You knew it, even if he wouldn't admit it. You knew Kaiser had thrown water on him again and treated him badly. You didn't need Ness to say it; you only had to look at him to understand. You helped him dry off, gently running the towel through his soaking wet hair. You sighed softly and, without saying a word, opened your jacket, wrapping him in it. Ness snuggled into your arms, and you simply hugged him a little tighter as you watched the snow fall in silence.
