The final whistle still echoed off the walls of the field, but the only thing Ness kept replaying in his mind was that look. For ninety minutes, Kaiser hadn't stopped watching Isagi; an intense, fixed, and genuine attention that he had never, in all the time they'd been playing together, given to anyone else. A bitter taste of jealousy, mixed with a deep unease, settled in Ness's chest, making his usual smile feel forced and painful. Why him? Why was that damned egotist stealing the attention of his "king"? Unable to contain the anxiety gnawing at him, Ness hurried through the cold corridors of the Blue Lock facility. He needed answers, he needed Kaiser's validation to erase Yoichi's shadow from his mind.

As he stopped in front of the star striker's bedroom door, he took a deep breath to try and calm the trembling of his hands and tapped the wood gently but insistently.

He called out, trying hard to make his voice sound as cheerful and servile as ever, although a slight hint of nervousness betrayed the agitation he carried inside.

Alexis Ness developed an emotional attachment to Kaiser from a young age, which is why he's a bit of a masochist towards him and defends him tooth and nail; for him, there's no one better than Kaiser.
