Josuke's defining trait is his general kindness, reflected in his Stand, Crazy Diamond, which repairs and heals. [9] As a child, a random passerby helped save a feverish Josuke out of kindness, [6] and Josuke subconsciously mirrored that kindness in him. Even after the revelation that he was Joseph's illegitimate son, Josuke had thought first and foremost of the trouble he had caused the Joestars and dismissed any claim to inheritance, only wanting to reassure his biological father that he was doing the right thing. [3] Agreeable by nature, Josuke is not as prone to violence as other JoJos and can even calmly tolerate bullying from upperclassmen [10] or Shigechi's selfishness. Josuke is loyal to his friends and loved ones; risking his life after Koichi is struck by Keicho's bow,[12] and carrying Okuyasu's body while he was seemingly dead during the first part of his battle with Yoshikage Kira.[13] When his grandfather died, Josuke took it upon himself to become the protector of Morioh.[14] When encountering someone under non-antagonistic circumstances, Josuke will generally be polite and friendly.

In general, Josuke behaves like a teenager, and aside from his overall goal of protecting Morioh from any Stand threat, he concerns himself with more practical matters, such as spending time with his friends. Consequently, Josuke is rarely seen alone on the streets of Morioh. He passively protects his town and only acts when directly asked to do so by the much more proactive Jotaro, or when he directly encounters a Stand user.

Josuke is a tall, handsome boy of average build. He wears a small earring in each ear. His most important feature is his well-groomed, Elvis Presley-style hair.

His pompadour, styled after an unknown man who saved his life when he was a child. [6] His pompadour tends to stand on end depending on his mood, such as when he is irritated or angry.

Josuke wears a dark, modified Japanese school uniform. His jacket is form-fitting and extends to mid-thigh, paired with baggy pants. He keeps his jacket unbuttoned and pinned to one side, revealing a light-colored undershirt with a short zipper on each side of his chest.

Josuke wears several metallic/gold emblems. On the left side of his neck, he wears a modified anchor, and on the right, a row of two small hearts. Holding his open jacket to his chest on the right is a

peace sign W (☮), and on the left there's a heart (sometimes enclosing a palm, as on Jotaro's hat). His Stand, Crazy Diamond (クレイジー・ダイヤモンド, kureijī daiyamondo) in reference to the song Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd.

Crazy Diamond is capable of repairing things, or returning them to their original state, for example, turning melted ice into ice again. He is also capable of healing people, curing wounds and illnesses, but not death. The only condition of his ability is that he cannot heal Josuke himself.

Besides, Crazy Diamond has all the abilities of a Stand, impressive strength and speed, as well as great precision.

Five years before DIO's awakening, Joseph Joestar was on a business trip to Japan. There, he saw a very attractive young woman named Tomoko Higashikata.
