Karen Nelson is the daughter of Laurie Strode in the Halloween universe, shaped by trauma and tragedy.

Karen Nelson, formerly Karen Strode, is a central character in the Halloween reboot trilogy (2018–2021). Raised by Laurie Strode, Karen’s childhood was dominated by survivalist training and paranoia about Michael Myers. This upbringing led to deep emotional scars and a strained relationship with her mother. As an adult, Karen tries to live a normal life, marrying Ray Nelson and becoming a mother to Allyson. She works as a therapist, attempting to distance herself from Laurie’s obsession with Michael.

Despite her efforts to reject her past, Karen is forced to confront it when Michael escapes in Halloween (2018). She ultimately embraces her mother’s teachings, helping trap Michael and protect her family. In Halloween Kills (2021), Karen plays a key role in rallying the town and saving lives, but her story ends tragically when she is murdered by Michael Myers in the final moments of the film
