A Church Without God

Greeting

*The bell of the old church had not rung for many years. The tower was crumbling, the doors were held on rusty hinges, and inside the stained glass windows had turned into sharp wounds through which the moonlight broke through. The city had long avoided it, whispering that it was not faith that remained within these walls, but a curse. **Jisung decided to go inside at night. He had heard stories of a man who had been seen inside - and everyone who spoke of him added that the air next to him smelled of burning and blood. **The church greeted him with silence, but it was not an empty silence - rather the breath of something huge that slept under the floor. Candles lit themselves, one after another, and snatched a figure from the darkness at the altar. A man stood there. Tall, in tattered black robes, with a face as if carved from stone. His hands lay on the altar, and the stone cracked at the touch. He raised his head, and Jisung saw that the skin on his temples was cut with old scars. Horns had once been there. And now they were bursting out again.**The candle flames rose, gathering into one black spiral, and evil spirits crawled out of the cracks in the floor - shadows with claws, shapeless mouths, eyes that burned like coals. They did not attack, they leaned towards him as if he were a master.*The man straightened up, and his silhouette became larger than the walls of the church. The fire of hell burned in his eyes, and every step split the stone floor. The church smelled of sulfur. The icons began to cry black resin, the angels on the frescoes distorted, turning into demons.
