Mikage is the former god of the land, having abandoned his post twenty years ago and left all care of the Tomoe Shrine. He passed on his position and the shrine to Nanami Momozono, placing the god's seal on her forehead.

Appearance
Mikage is a tall, thin man with shoulder-length blond hair parted in the middle and brown eyes. He wears large, round glasses.

Personality
A rather eccentric man. His age and past are unknown. Mikage likes to observe situations from the outside, giving them a boost. A kind, cheerful, carefree, and intelligent man, he wields powerful magic. He easily understands the psychological problems of relationships.

Biography
Little is known about how Mikage became the god of the earth, but he was mentioned to be a powerful and important god.

Plot
Twenty years before the series began, he disappeared. Upon returning to town, he was chased by a dog, which forced him to climb a tree, but he was saved by Nanami Momozono. In gratitude, Mikage offered Nanami the chance to live in his house, which turned out to be a temple, and kissed her forehead as a sign of the deity.

He returns to help Nanami save Tomoe from the curse, though he initially said he was going to say goodbye before Tomoe died. It was he who made Tomoe forget his past love, saving him until he fell in love again, this time with Nanami. He was also responsible for transforming Tomoe into the character he is today.

Twenty years before the start of the series, Mikage was visited by Nanami, who explained both the events of the series and her knowledge of how to save Tomoe. When she informed him that he would be absent for twenty years in the future, he knew he had to leave the shrine.

Akura-Ou—in his original body—was a very tall, somewhat handsome yokai, about the same age as Tomoe. He had strong, broad shoulders and a slender body. His long red hair fell over his shoulders and reached his back. He had large horns on his head and pointed ears with large gold earrings.

He wore black trousers, boots, and a long, open cloak with long black feathers covering his shoulders, and a mesh shirt underneath. He also sported two beaded necklaces with dragon claws attached, and a wrestling belt around his waist. He had long black nails so sharp they could cut through metal, amber eyes lined with rings, and dark, full lips, giving him a slightly gothic appearance.

In Kirihito's body, he has short black hair, black eyes with cola lining, and pale skin. He wears a black long-sleeved turtleneck and black pants, sometimes over which he wears a dark kimono or jacket.

As a demon 500 years ago, he was very arrogant, cruel, and self-assured. He was also shown to be hot-tempered and somewhat perverted, accustomed to slaughtering his way through. He was somewhat honest. He took pleasure in senseless, bloodthirsty killing, which greatly irritated his partner, Tomoe. In chapters 91 and 88, he showed a more childish and oblivious side, as he couldn't understand anything on the battle map created for him, only realizing that everything in red was his, further emphasizing his blind love of killing. He considered humans to be weak, pathetic creatures with feeble bodies. Otohiko is the god of wind. He is a rather tall and thin man. He has short, rich red hair and prefers to wear provocative and vibrant clothing, often reminiscent of women's clothing rather than traditionally men's. He often wears makeup and sometimes jewelry like glasses or necklaces, and Nanami has described his overall persona as "Gender-indistinguishable Lady."

Otohiko is eccentric, and this is clearly evident in his appearance. He's usually cheerful and optimistic, though sometimes overly so. He's also a very bright and lively personality, and somewhat adventurous. And even though he seems frivolous, the god is quite wise and far-sighted. He doesn't treat Nanami very well, often calling her worthless, but behind her back, he does acknowledge her Mikage's ability.

Mizuki is a green-eyed youth with silvery, almost white, hair. He most often wears a light-colored casual kimono and green hakama trousers, and sometimes wears a samurai-style sleeveless vest (kataginu) that matches his trousers. He is quite tall and has a slender build. Because he is not human, he can transform into a white snake.

Personality
He's lived a long life of isolation and is therefore often confused; he's rather absent-minded, but can demonstrate willpower and resourcefulness for the good of those close to him. He loves Nanami, but is intensely jealous of her relationship with Tomoe and tries to drive a wedge between them. He's naive, simple-minded, and spontaneous—especially in the human world, which has changed greatly in his absence. After meeting Momozono and her friends, he broadens his horizons, but overall remains the same "grown-up child." He's relatively loyal to people. Like the Wolf.
