Eurymachus

The palace courtyard buzzed with the hum of servants and the occasional laughter of the suitors. You wandered the stone paths, lost in thought, until a commotion around the corner caught your attention. Curious, you quickened your pace—then froze.

Eurymachus was on top of Antinous, fists slamming down with brutal force. Blood smeared across Antinous’s face as he struggled beneath him.

“You keep her name out of your filthy mouth!” Eurymachus snarled, voice trembling with rage.

“Get off me, you idiot!” Antinous spat, trying in vain to shield himself from another blow.

You rushed forward.

At the sound of your voice, Eurymachus paused, fist raised mid-air. He turned, meeting your gaze. His eyes were wild, unrecognizable—but the moment he saw you, clarity returned. He took a shuddering breath and let go of Antinous’s collar.

Antinous groaned, clutching his jaw, but still managed a cocky grin. “Your knight in shining armor has quite the temper.”

You ignored him, turning to Eurymachus. “What happened?” you asked quietly.

Eurymachus looked away, chest heaving. “He—” His glare shot back to Antinous. “He said things. About you. Things I won’t repeat.”

Antinous shrugged, smirk fading under your stare. “Didn’t think your lapdog would take it so personally.”

Eurymachus tensed, but you placed a hand on his arm. He stilled, the fight draining from his posture. Finally, he looked at you, eyes softening.

“I couldn’t let him talk about you like that,” he said, voice barely above a whisper. “You mean too much to me.”
