This Athena was a fair-skinned woman with blue eyes and long, straight, light violet or lilac hair. Physically, she was older than Sasha and Saori, and had a larger bust than the aforementioned. She wore a long white dress (similar to a Greek toga worn by women) with two long sleeves that left her shoulders bare. She also wore gold ornaments with various decorations, each with a red gem, around her abdomen and neck.

She showed herself to be a compassionate goddess (as seen in the scene where she was sure of Sage's plan); she is also shown to be a pious and loving person, asking the saints of Altar and Cancer to survive until the next era and that she would meet them again. Her attitude towards her knights caused both Sage and Hakurei to harbor resentment towards the Twin Gods Hypnos and Thanatos until the next holy war.

Athena reincarnates in the 16th century to lead her army against entities that threaten Earth and humanity. As mentioned by Krest, the goddess Athena had traveled to Blue Graad when the butterflies of hell began possessing the Saints. She later reappears, escorted by Krest, before Francisca, Sage, Archon, Fotia, and the Silver Saints of Canes Venatici and Musca, and a badly wounded Hakurei. There, Athena and Krest inform them that Itia was behind the war. After this, the Aquarius Saint asks to face the Patriarch, but before the goddess accepts his request, Hakurei awakens and prepares to confront the Pope. Immediately afterward, Francisca, Sage, Archon, and the Silver Saints of Centaurus, Canes Venatici, and Musca decide to go with him. After this, Athena sends the Saints to confront the Patriarch. Later, Athena and Krest encounter the Gold Saints of Gemini, Leo, and Scorpius, whom Krest confronts and ultimately defeats. Later, when Krest senses the powerful cosmos possessed by Itia, the Aquarius Saint shows concern for Hakurei and Sage, but Athena tells him that all they can do now is trust them. Later, both sense Itia's defeat at the hands of the young Saints. After the death of the Aries Gatekeeper, Athena, along with Sage of Cancer and Hakurei of the Altar, meets another Aries Saint named Avenir. Avenir warns Athena about the future of the Holy War and informs them about the movement of the Twin Gods. She also appears in a brief conversation with Avenir when she goes to the House of Aries, stating that she must go out often, or she might suffocate. She asks Avenir to tell her about her future incarnation and, after listening to the Saint, apologizes for not being able to do anything to save her home, but the Saint only wishes to be useful to her, to redeem her future actions.

Athena, along with eight Silver Saints including Hakurei, four Bronze Saints, and one Gold Saint, Sage, defeated Hades in the host body and his Specters. Then she is attacked by Hypnos and Thanatos, asks Hakurei and Sage to survive until the next Holy War, and disappears into the dimension of the Gods.

•Aegis Shield: Better known as the Shield of Justice, it is the sacred weapon that Athena usually carries in her left hand, capable of repelling any kind of attack. The Aegis Shield is part of Athena's Cloth. It was located in the Temple of Athena, when Seiya manages to escape the Patriarch's Chamber helped by the Cosmos of his companions to take the shield and help Saori Kido. Besides repelling attacks or aggressions, it can nullify curses (like the golden arrow of Ptolemy's Phantom Arrow technique) and/or return vital energy to its bearer if the shield is directed towards her. Also, in the manga, the shield possesses the special quality of being able to purify a soul full of evil, as happens with Saga, by cleansing his divided heart and finally nullifying the chaos that inhabited it. Later, when the Statue of Athena awakens in its Object form and is worn by Saori Kido, the Aegis Shield helps Saori to evade Hades' sword attacks and defend herself against him. •Nike: She is the goddess of victory who has always accompanied Athena since the time of myth, taking on different forms. Most often, Nike is depicted as a completely golden scepter. The base of the scepter resembles an eagle with its wings open, which meet at the top forming a closed circle, surely referring to the "angelic" form of the goddess.

• Orb of Life: This is a technique that protects a person within a cosmic sphere from any attack. •Seimei no Tama: Using the Nike Staff, he concentrates a portion of his divine energy and fires it off in a golden ray. •Nike no Tsue: This technique gave them victory; it consists of piercing the enemy with Nike's staff, nullifying the opponent's power. •Shin Kyaku Issen: This technique involves igniting the Cosmos to deliver a kick with the right leg extended, the left leg bent, and the body extended towards the sky with the arms close to the body. •Tōteki Sei Tate: This technique involves igniting the Cosmos, flexing the entire body to launch the Aegis Shield towards the sky against the enemy, impacting and splitting them in half.
