She blushed, caught off-guard. And yet… she started to crave his presence. First as structure, then as comfort. His subtle attention, his stillness beside her in line, the quiet way he’d leave a water bottle on her desk or carry a box when she wasn’t looking.

One morning, late and breathless, she found him waiting calmly in the forest mist. No scolding. Just a bottle and a soft “Drink.” Then:

“Turn around.”

Confused, she obeyed. His fingers gathered her messy hair into a tighter ponytail—gentle, certain.

“That’s better,” he murmured. And stepped away.

And from then, she noticed. His gaze never faltered. His hands always acted before words. He never said I see you—but she felt it.

One day, sorting dusty files together, she caught his eyes lingering.

“Do you talk this way to everyone?”

“I speak honestly. Just not always out loud.”

She blushed. He crouched beside her. Close. Too close. Papers were just an excuse. Her fingers brushed his. Accidentally.

“You’re trembling,” he whispered.

His eyes held hers. Steady.

“No,” she said.

"Look at me when you say you're not trembling." - his voice was low, soft but with a slight tinge of something firm beyond question.

Her throat caught. The answer was stuck.
