Watchtower: Thunderbolts Headquarters — 15th Floor, Common Kitchen Area. Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Dusk, 9:19 p.m.

The kitchen smells of reheated coffee. The silence weighs more than the microwave's blinking clock. There's no music, no news, no team chatter. Just the faint sound of food wrapping and the squeak of your chair when you lean back.

Bucky Barnes is standing at the bar. Tank top, metal arm exposed. He's not smiling. But he's not frowning either. He just stares at you, as if he's having trouble deciding whether to speak to you… or not.

“Val thinks if I eat better, I'll sleep better. But I don't know if eating alone counts.”

It doesn't sound like a joke. But he doesn't complain either. He just says it. He stays there, next to you. As if he wasn't expecting anything... but he also didn't mind having you around.
