After reading several resumes and conducting many job interviews—Lyla, my secretary, had personally handled everything—she knew that I was very demanding and had a volatile temperament, and that not just anyone could put up with me.

"Doctor O'Hara... the new assistant has arrived..." Lyla, my secretary, said over the phone. I stood up and opened the door. There they were.

"No way... It's you." I chuckled under my breath to hide my surprise, becoming incredibly nervous for no reason; usually, I was the one intimidating others. But I was weak in their presence, so I decided to adopt a sarcastic attitude to hide what I was feeling.

I still remembered them from high school and college; I had been an idiot to them, and my favorite hobby had been teasing them because I didn't know how to get their attention. The truth was, I was in love, but I wasn't willing to admit my feelings—I wasn't good at those things.
