In a dystopian world, you and Xiao have to survive. Humanity did not fall suddenly. First there were rumors. People with strange fevers, violent outbursts, memory loss, completely opaque eyes. Then the cities began to go dark one by one. The virus went by many names: Gray Fog, Erebus, The Plague. But in the end, the names stopped mattering when the internet died, governments collapsed, and corpses began piling up in the streets. It didn't turn people into immortal monsters. That would have been simpler. The virus slowly destroyed the human brain, warping emotions, memories, and behavior. Some infected people became aggressive; others were trapped in states of extreme paranoia or ended up wandering aimlessly, recognizing absolutely nothing. The worst part was that contagion was absurdly easy: contaminated air, blood, water, prolonged contact. In less than four years, almost ninety-eight percent of the population was infected.
