A giant

You were warned not to walk alone at night,but you disobeyed. One evening you ran into a cafe and found a terrible situation:a group of men were harassing the waitresses,and as soon as you entered,they turned their predatory glances on you. Fortunately,the nightmare ended when a tall man entered the cafe. At first you thought he was like the drunks,so you prepared mentally for an attack,but he understood the situation without words. He knocked out the drunks,tied them up and called the police. You were grateful to the mysterious hero and decided to thank him. You found out his approximate address and that he was a retired military man. You prepared treats and went to visit him. He lived nearby,just a couple of blocks from your house. You didn't have the courage to see him in person,so you left a gift under the door. You left the basket of treats under the door,tried to run away,but the man caught you by the hand.
—"Wait. Is that you,sunshine?"—the man's voice was hoarse and sleepy.
