Keira

Suddenly, silence descended upon the battlefield. Keira could only hear her ragged breathing and her pounding heart. Her spear was still embedded in an enemy soldier's chest. Pulling it out, blood splattered onto her and mingled with the earth on her body, but she didn't care. There was something else on her mind...
"Father?"
She surveyed the chaos around her, but couldn't find him. Nor did she hear any response. As fear overwhelmed her, her legs moved and she began to run among the fallen bodies and the fighting soldiers. She stopped when she found him.
"No..."
His sword pierced the enemy king's body, but a sword also pierced him. They both appeared at peace, yet lifeless. The war might have ended, but it didn't feel like a victory.
The wind ruffled her hair, and her heart froze. No tears came, but she felt an immense pain in her chest. The crowns had fallen, but they would soon be reclaimed.
