Hasibira Inosuke

A muscular man who always wears a mask made of boar's scalp, wears deer fur around his waist, wears shoes made of bear fur, and walks around with his upper body naked. He has a rather reckless wildness and ability, and his voice is also quite deep.

He has black hair with a two-toned bob cut that is dyed blue at the ends, a uniquely shaped bangs that are pushed to the middle and intersect each other, and long green eyes with eyelashes. As for his appearance, he has inherited the genes of his beautiful mother, Kotoha, so he is pretty enough to be believed as a pretty girl, which creates an unbalanced sense of dissonance with his muscular body. Because of this, when Zenitsu saw his bare face when he took off his mask, he mistook him for a woman for a moment, and Tanjiro also openly and honestly said that his skin was white and pretty. In the gender-reversal manga drawn by the author, it is described as not being much different from the original.

The boar skin he usually wears is, of course, not his real face, but because this boar face expresses a wide variety of emotions and has its own charm, fans also recognize the boar head as another face of Inosuke.

Perhaps because he grew up in the wild like an animal, he is a very hot-blooded, naive, and battle-mad maniac, like a wild beast. Because of this, he lacks common sense and does not think deeply, so he attempts to fight anyone who looks strong, whether they are humans or goblins. He also shows an overly rough side, such as using children as a stepping stone and speaking informally to everyone. However, this is gradually improving after meeting Tanjiro and Zenitsu.

The phrase is "reckless and fierce" (猪突猛進). It is a Japanese 4-character idiom that originated from the image of a wild boar charging forward with great force, but it is not commonly used in Korea. However, the words "reckless" and "fierce" exist respectively.

Another catchphrase is, "I can do anything you can do, tsasha!" He is a single-celled person with strong pride and competitiveness, so if someone else can do something he can't do, he will do it and brag about it. Also, because of this personality, he is easily provoked by people who look down on him, so he is easy to fool. On the other hand, if he sees that he can't do something right now, his pride is greatly hurt.

He is easily influenced. His rough speech is also modeled after Takaharu, and he personally certifies his narration as "a man easily influenced." Perhaps because of this, he is surprisingly good at listening to what others say. Thanks to this, his personality has become much more humane than it was at first, when he was almost like an animal. It seems that he has been positively influenced by Tanjiro and the people around him.

Although he doesn't realize it, he is very weak to gentle people and atmospheres. When he meets kind people like the old lady at the flower-patterned house he first visited or Tanjiro, or when the Kamaboko stand is in a warm atmosphere, Inosuke himself becomes happy and loses his mind.

Having lived in the mountains, his physical abilities are far superior to those of most people. Among his peers, the only people who can compare to him are Tanjiro, who works hard, and Kanao, who was directly trained by his master Shinobu. [16] In particular, Tanjiro is amazed at how flexible his body is, and his fighting style is like that of an animal, making it difficult to predict his movements. Despite not having received any special training, he is a munchkin with stronger physical abilities than most members of the Demon Slayer Corps.

He has lived alone in the mountains and does not have anyone he can really call a teacher, but surprisingly, he has developed and uses his own unique breathing method. Basically, all concentrated breathing is derived from and established by Yoriichi's breathing, the breath of the sun, so the fact that Inosuke was able to acquire the breathing method on his own without any learning using only his wild instinct shows that he has a natural talent. Inosuke is the only person in the entire Demon Slayer series, aside from Yoriichi, to acquire or create concentrated breathing on his own without any teaching or education.[20][21] He is the swordsman who best deserves the word genius, along with Tokito Muichiro Hajou, as he passed the Demon Slayer Corps exam and slew demons with only his basic specifications without any separate teaching or training.

His weak points are that he has not learned much and is very simple-minded. That is why, until the early stages, he had a strong tendency to rely only on his basic specs and run wild without a strategy, and he would often swing his sword without proper techniques. Even so, his simple-mindedness mostly went well in the development of the story, but when he fought his father's demon on Mount Natagumo, he thought he was winning and charged without thinking, but the demon had escaped and become stronger, and he was almost killed by that demon. However, this part improved as he became Tanjiro's comrade and as he met and parted ways with Rengoku Kyoujuro, he developed a sense of belonging and affection for the Demon Slayer Corps, and with proper training and practice and numerous real-life experiences, he completely overcame his weak points by the end.

He rarely uses a dual sword.[22] It seems to be the sword he took from a member of the Demon Slayer Corps and the sword he received as his share after joining. The blade is worn out and looks like a mess because it has been used for so many cuts, but he boasts that it is sharp and can cut finely.[23] Both of his swords broke during a fight on Mount Natakumo, so he received new swords. The maker was Kanamori, and the blades are blue-gray. However, as soon as he received them, he picked up a rock from the yard and hit it with a club, breaking it into a saw-shaped blade. Naturally, Kanamori blushed when he saw the blade break right before his eyes. Inosuke himself thought it looked cool, so he broke it, but this shape is more suitable for the breathing of a beast, so it was ultimately the right choice. It may have been thanks to Inosuke's beastly intuition. Other than that, neither of them have a nose bridge, and instead of a handle, they are wrapped in cloth. When Kanamori first made it, it had both a handle and a nose bridge, but judging from the fact that it doesn't appear in the Mugen Train episode right after, it seems like he asked for it to be removed because it wasn't needed.

Even with his ribs cracked, he is still able to bend his waist in the opposite direction and grab his ankles, which makes his body incredibly flexible. In the story, the only person who can compare to Inosuke in terms of flexibility is Mitsuri Kanroji, whose movements are reminiscent of a gymnast. Thanks to this, he is able to perform surprise kicks from various angles, as well as various acrobatics, which will be described later.

In fact, simply having a flexible body is not that great in the Demon Slayer Corps, which is full of all kinds of physical ironmen, but Inosuke is not just flexible; he can easily pull out and reassemble his joints at will, and he has a special constitution that allows him to freely control the muscles of his entire body separately from his joints.

A user of the beast breath, a type of breathing technique. As one might expect from the mention of coming in without an instructor, this is a breathing technique that he developed and uses on his own. He uses the unique term “Fangs” (牙) for his attack technique, and the general term “Type” (型) for his assist technique.

Since it is a technique focused on digging and tearing the opponent apart rather than slashing them,[41] its power is considerable but its accuracy is low, and because of Inosuke's unique wild fighting style and rough swordplay, he was criticized by Douma for not being able to even learn the basics of swordsmanship.[42] Even though Douma let his guard down, he was wounded by Inosuke's attacks, and his Blood Demon Technique was also defeated by Inosuke once, so that evaluation is not particularly meaningful. Although Douma criticized it as a mess, he must have thought highly of Inosuke's technique itself, because he tried to kill him after seeing all the techniques Inosuke could use in order to refer to them in the next battle. He also broke the blade of the Ichiryunto he possessed himself and made it into a saw-shaped blade, and judging from the broken shape, it is not known whether it was intentional, but it looks like a barbed wire blade.[43][44] And since he has two swords, his specialty is dual swordsmanship.

Inosuke himself likes wild boars the most, so he bases his moves on them, but he also likes wolves and bears, so he says his moves are influenced by them as well. And perhaps because of Inosuke's simple nature, there are many techniques that pop out spontaneously as you go on.

Although it is a breathing method that Inosuke created independently, it is very similar in its basics to the Breath of Wind, so in the settings book, it is linked as a similar derivative relationship like the Breath of Flame and the Breath of Love.

First Tooth Piercing: A simple technique that involves deeply stabbing both swords into one area at the same time.

Second Tooth Slash: A technique that swings both swords in an X shape and slashes.

Third Tongue Tearing Off: A technique to tear off a part from both sides simultaneously with two swords.

Fourth Fang, Shred, Shred: A technique that quickly swings both swords several times to launch a six-hit combo with a trajectory that resembles the claw marks of an animal.

Fifth Tongue Slash: A wide-area technique that rotates the entire body in the air and slashes 360 degrees in all directions. Since it is a technique that slashes in all directions with the sword, it is best used when surrounded by enemies.

7th Type Spatial Etching: This is the only technique that is not an attack technique but a type of detection technique. It is a technique that places the swords behind one's back and spreads one's arms wide to the left and right, sharpening one's senses throughout the body and reliably detecting enemies even from a distance. As a reference, the technique is indicated by the character "型" instead of "牙" in the beast's breathing.

Hasibira Kotoha Although she was his biological mother, she was separated from him due to some circumstances and was raised by a wild boar as a baby. The only memory he had at first was of him being abandoned in the river, so he only vaguely remembered him and did not show much attachment to him. However, he was advised by an old man and Tanjiro who he was close with that his parents must have cherished Inosuke based on the name written on his underwear. In addition, although he did not know it himself, he unconsciously remembered his mother's affection, and because of that, he showed a weak heart to those who were kind to him, and for some reason, he longed for the strict but kind Shinobu and followed her well.

Father and grandmother: I don't know much about him, but his father would grab and shake Inosuke when he was a baby and say that he was noisy, and his grandmother would also abuse and harass his mother, committing domestic violence. It was such a situation that when Douma killed them, fans even mocked him, saying it was "Doma's only good deed."

Kamado Tanjiro: He was a classmate who passed the selection test together, but Inosuke was the first to leave the mountain, so they never met. When they first met in the Namnamdong arc, they got into a physical fight because of Inosuke's violent temper, but they trained together and fought against demons together, and they became close friends to the point that they swore to stop each other if anyone went down the wrong path. Influenced by Tanjiro's unique affection, he feels a bit of a poka-poka feeling and his personality becomes somewhat lenient.

Kamado Nezuko: At first, he wanted to kill her simply because she was an oni, but Zenitsu and Tanjiro persuaded him and they became comrades. As they began to see each other more often, they gradually became close. If you look at the dream in the Mugen Train arc, you can see that he considers her a subordinate (friend). After that, when Nezuko spoke to him, he taught her to memorize his name, and they became so close.

Agatsuma Zenitsu: In the Nannan-do arc, he assaulted Zenitsu while he was protecting Nezuko, giving him the worst first impression, but Zenitsu didn't hold any grudges, so they became comrades. After that, as they often worked together on missions, he became friends with Tanjiro, and whenever Inosuke did something stupid, Zenitsu would not back down and would slap him in the face, and they became very close friends. In the Mugen Train arc, when Zenitsu was left behind and hanging on to the train, he quickly approached him and grabbed his hand. He even slept with his body wrapped around him.

Tsuyuri Kanao: Between classmates. Kanao often gives Inosuke a hard time due to his eccentricities.

Kochou Shinobu & Butterfly Mansion Children They became close because he often got injured and was indebted to her. At first, he was shy with the Butterfly Mansion kids, but later on, they seemed to have become really close. As a side note, Inosuke, who is not good at remembering other people's names, is said to be able to remember Shinobu's name very well. It is said that he cannot move in front of an angry Shinobu.

Kanzaki Aoi: She is seen making a fuss during recovery training.

Tomioka Giyuu He has great respect and a sense of pride for his great skills. However, since Giyu is a jerk, it seems that they don't talk much. Incidentally, Inosuke calls Giyu "Haori". Rengoku Kyoujuro He seems to have a competitive spirit towards Kyojuro, who has tremendous power[54], and was moved by his appearance protecting people until the end, even at the cost of his life. He felt guilty about not being able to do anything in the fight with Akazawa, and was so saddened by his death that he shed tears. He tells Tanjiro, who is frustrated by Kyojuro's death, that he must become stronger in the future according to Kyojuro's will.

Kanamori Kozo: Inosuke's swordsmith. He is usually quiet, so there are no major problems, but when Inosuke remodels the Nichirin Sword...

He is not good at remembering people's names. As a result, he tends to call the characters by their names, or by nicknames based on their appearances instead of their names. The only person he calls by their name properly is Kochou Shinobu.
