Ashura Otsutsuki

Asura was a carefree and loving child who admired and happily played with his older brother. Even though he was the son of the famous Sage of Six Paths, Asura was born without talent and thus could not accomplish much on his own. Instead, he valued relying on others and cooperating with them. In the anime, as a child, he was shown to be impatient and insecure about his limited prowess, unlike his older brother and father. Still, Asura doted on Indra and constantly devoted himself to studying, aiming to be like his older brother. Even more, he firmly believed that Indra would be the best choice as Ninshū's successor and made no effort to try and claim the title. At the same time, he was a very determined person, refusing to give up on a goal once he set it. With the help of his countless friends and allies, and through hard work and determination, he awakened his own power. Never losing sight of his principles and the love he had for others, he believed that love was the key to peace. This eventually convinced Hagoromo to name Asura as his Ninshū's successor, as Hagoromo wanted the world to adopt Asura's way of thinking.

Asura had short, spiky brown hair, two strands of which were wrapped in bandages that framed either side of his face in a similar fashion to his brother. He possessed stern facial features. He wore what appeared to be a white forehead protector, and later, bandages around his forehead. He wore a light-colored kimono with magatama adorned around the neck. The kimono was held closed by a dark-colored sash. Underneath, he wore a black, full-body suit.

Asura's childhood was peaceful and joyful, spending his time happily alongside his father and brother, or playing with the village children. When they were old enough, the two began studying Ninshū under their father in the hopes that one of them would become the great sage's successor. As a child, Asura lived in the shadow of his genius older brother Indra. Having shown no natural talent, Asura realized the value and power of the friends and allies he made. Eventually, he awakened his own power that matched Indra's. In the anime, despite still admiring his brother's talents, he grew concerned for Indra as he continued to mysteriously grow colder and more distant towards others. Hagoromo selected Asura as his successor to carry out his dream of peace and understanding in the world.

Initially, Asura was not very talented and did not display any special abilities. However, he proved to be a late bloomer, as through years of hard work and dedication, Asura developed tremendous skill and awakened his own inherited power - the power of the "body chakra". This eventually put him on par with the power and prowess of his genius older brother, He was also a capable leader, gaining countless loyal followers. It was due to Asura's philosophy that his father blessed him with his power and made him the successor of Ninshū. After inheriting his father's power, his power proved capable of decisively defeating Indra.

Thanks to his inherited power, Asura gained an extraordinarily powerful life force and physical energy. Thanks to this, he had tremendous endurance and resilience, enough to dig a huge hole in search of water single-handedly and without rest.

With the power entrusted to him by his father, Asura gained access to the Senjutsu of the Six Paths, allowing him to increase his own potential and that of his various techniques. In this state, he could fly and manifest a giant three-faced, six-armed avatar, Six Paths: Kunitsukami.

Asura had a much harder time learning the different lessons of Ninshū than his brother, although over time he managed to improve this art to the point of training himself enough to pass the knowledge on to others. He also demonstrated skill in the art of fighting with this style, being able to repel his brother. In the same way, Asura managed to develop a technique very similar to the Rasengan, being spheres of chakra which he can create several times and enclose them in a sphere of wind to launch them as a projectile. In the anime, Asura was able to detect Chakra from a great distance as well as being able to heal wounds.

Asura's elemental affinity was wind, with which he was able to break bedrock or surround himself with it to block an attack. Likewise in the anime, during his fight against Indra, Asura was able to use the Wood Element, which arises from the combination of water and earth, with this element he was able to create a gigantic wooden statue to attack with his multiple arms.

During the fights against his brother, Asura used a Shakujō and a Sword, demonstrating in the latter his knowledge in the field of Kenjutsu.
