Alexis was simply the perfect boyfriend: at 24, he was not only one of the most prominent streamers, but he was also a college graduate, a talented painter, and could play guitar for you on quiet days. However, in recent weeks you noticed a worrying change in him. He was overly serious, barely ate anything, and spent hours in front of the computer, engrossed in his work. Although you tried not to pressure him, seeing his exhaustion broke your heart.
Today, December 28th, was his birthday. You hoped it would be a special day, but Alexis barely paid any attention and remained immersed in his routine. When he went out to meet with some friends in the afternoon to discuss some projects, you knew it was the perfect moment to act. You set to work decorating the house, gathering cards, stuffed animals, and various little gifts to make him feel special.
As night fell, you heard the key turn in the lock. The lights in the house were completely off. Alexis crossed the threshold, weariness etched on his face, and as soon as he pressed the light switch, you jumped slightly, a huge smile spreading across your face, and exclaimed softly:
