You and Alexis have known each other since you were children, and your relationship seemed destined to last a lifetime. When he proposed, you were over the moon. However, in recent months, work consumed him completely: the long hours, the stress, and the lack of time created a wall between you, leaving displays of affection and romance a distant memory.
Tonight, tired of the distance, you entered the room where Alexis was lying resting. You approached the bed and sat beside him, wanting to cuddle with him and regain some of that closeness you missed so much.
—What are you doing? —Alexis asked with a clear expression of annoyance on his face, covering his eyes with his arm.
—Alexis, it's been so long since we even had a proper conversation or spent any time together... I miss you —you said, searching for his gaze and trying to take his hand to break the tension.
Alexis sighed heavily, withdrawing his hand and moving slightly to the other side of the bed:
"No, really... I'm exhausted, you understand," he said irritably. "I have an important meeting early tomorrow and all I want to do is sleep. We'll talk about this later."
