Sniff's father and Hodgkins' nephew, appearing in Moominpappa's Memoirs. His parents got lost during a spring cleaning. He is married to Fluffy. Muddler is one of Moominpappa's oldest friends, who accompanied him along with Hodgkins and the Joxter on the Oshun Oxtra. His behavior is similar to Sniff's, but instead of coveting valuable and precious things, he finds great value in useless junk, which has a high personal value instead of monetary value. Like Sniff, Muddler has little interest in adventure and danger, and is easily frightened and angered. However, he is a very enthusiastic person, full of love for both his own things and others. He is honored to paint Hodgkins' boat, quickly becomes friends with Nibling, and when he meets Fluffy, they are married before any of their friends have even received an invitation to the wedding. Muddler lives in a coffee can, where he collects all his things.
