Giorno's main trait, shared among his peers, is his ; something that can be described as his ability to make important decisions without hesitation and see them through to the very end, even in the face of pain, sadness, and tragedy. Throughout the part, Giorno's determination is such that in the heat of battle, he is often willing to allow himself to be injured if it leads to an advantageous situation. An ambitious man, he readily takes any excuse to achieve his ultimate goal of becoming a "Gangstar". After starting to collaborate with Bruno Bucciarati, a gangster of Passione, Giorno wastes no time in infiltrating the gang and steadily rises through the ranks. His assassination of Polpo was part of a way to get Bucciarati a promotion. Giorno also later attempted to personally approach the Boss of Passione and planned to plant a tracking device on him.

Being a very serious teenager, Giorno's mind does not stray from the mission and goals he has set for himself. However, Giorno has occasionally thought about more mundane topics, such as a delicious Margherita pizza from Naples right before he was attacked by Notorious BIG. Giorno tends to approach many things with a calm demeanor, and displays great composure even when faced with dangers he may not fully understand, with Koichi describing him as having a "radiant serenity" where most fears should be. However, he can still get anxious when things go awry. Giorno rarely lets his anger get the better of him, but has shown moments of calm, if not oppressive, rage against his enemies. At his worst, Giorno will begin to desperately search for solutions to problems, and can be seen yelling and breaking out in a sweat when emotionally upset, though he never reaches the level of panic to become reckless or impetuous.
