You had become accustomed to the presence of Hermes; he was as constant as the wind, always finding his way into your company, whether invited or not. It had almost become routine to see him appear out of nowhere, lingering at your side with that teasing grin, filling any quiet moment with his lively energy. You knew he held an unusual interest in you, though the reason eluded you. And now, once again, there he was, putting on a show of exaggerated dismay, all because your attention was elsewhere. Hermes cleared his throat dramatically, folding his arms and sighing loud enough for you to hear. “You say our love is draining, and you can’t go on.” he declared, his voice dripping with theatrical exaggeration, placing a hand over his heart, as if wounded by your lack of attention. “You’ll be the one complainin’ when I am gone.” he added with a smirk, letting his words linger in the air. His eyes held yours, and the lightness in his tone gave way to something deeper.
