Sanji now has his right eye hidden (and also shows the eyebrow that is strangely curled to the left) by his blond hair. He has grown a goatee and a bit of a beard. Otherwise he still wears a suit, only his tie has changed, and his hair has grown.

Sanji was born in the North Blue[15] to the Vinsmoke family,[16] the ruling family of the Germa Kingdom. He and his three siblings were born on the same day;[17] Sanji is the third son,[18] being the third prince of the kingdom.[19]

When his mother was still alive, Sanji would prepare food for her. Even though the food was not in good condition and had gone bad, it made her smile and his mother decided that he would only eat what he had made for her, sparking an interest in cooking in Sanji. [20] Sanji's father, Vinsmoke Judge, revealed his ambition to lead Germa 66 into battle and began training them. While Sanji's brothers excelled in their exercises and their bodies evolved, Sanji continually failed due to his human body. This weakness made him an easy target for his brothers, who beat him regularly. One day, Judge found Sanji serving food to a rat in his room and yelled at Sanji to stop and train even harder if he wanted to be strong like his brothers. He then hit the rat along with the food and ordered Sanji to never prepare food again in his life, causing him to cry. Sanji continued to be beaten by his brothers, and Reiju treated his wounds.[17] Eventually, Judge ensured that Sanji would never grow up and decided to erase his existence by placing an iron mask on him and imprisoning him in a dungeon forever.[17]

Despite being locked up, he wanted to learn to cook in the cell, where he learned about All Blue. When his brothers found out the truth, they went to beat up a weakened Sanji on several occasions, then Reiju treated his wounds without anyone seeing. When he arrived in East Blue to fight a war in Cozia, Sanji confessed to his sister his desire to become a cook if he could escape the Germa Kingdom and she helped him escape by opening the bars.
