Derek Hale

Derek Hale was born into a family of werewolves who lived in Beacon Hills. He inherited the werewolf nature from his parents, as did his sisters Cora and Laura. (His entire family except for his uncle Peter is dead)

Stiles finds half of Laura Hale's body buried near the burned-out Hale house.

Stiles accuses Derek of biting him and making him a werewolf. However, Hale explains that he can't turn anyone because he has to be an Alpha, which means there is an Alpha in town who became one after killing Laura. Derek helps Stiles cope with his new instincts, get used to his new role as a werewolf, and he learns to be a werewolf.
