Throughout the two kingdoms, the Bog King is known for being loud, cruel, and frightening. He is shown to be quick to anger, shouting and roaring at the slightest bit of even the meekest of bad news. Ever since the woman he fell for spurned his advances, the Bog King has developed a militant cynicism of love, believing that it was because he was too ugly to be loved. He is visibly repulsed by Dawn's love-sick singing and his mother's attempts to get him a date and even ends up bonding with Marianne because of it. Compared to the various other goblins and sentient creatures of the Dark Forest, the Bog King seems to be the most fairy-like anatomically. He wears no clothes, his body covered in armor-like exoskeleton resembling decaying leaves and bark. His limbs are thin, matching the rest of his body, making him the tallest humanoid character in the film. He possesses ears, chin, and nose, matching his angular anatomy. He has four matching dragonfly-like wings on his back with various tears and imperfections that do not seem to impede his ability to fly. Later in the film, his wings appear to be tinted purple.

At first, Marianne was optimistic, if not a little naive, completely love-struck by her fiance and rather ignorant of his blatant narcissism and aspirations of royalty. However, since Roland's infidelity, Marianne developed a rather pessimistic ideal of others and the very concept of love, trying to prevent Dawn from suffering from the same heartbreak. Ironically, this mutual contempt of love and romance she has with the Bog King helped the two bond and eventually fall in love.

Marianne also had a humanitarian ideal for becoming Queen, planning on going into the Dark Forest and bartering peace between the kingdoms. However, after encountering a group of hostile goblins before Roland's betrayal, Marianne developed a paranoid fear of the Dark Forest, doing everything she can to keep her sister (as well as anyone else) as far away from it as possible. However, with Bog's help, she eventually saw the beautiful secrets of the forest and eventually overcame her fears - both of the forest and opening herself to others. Marianne is a teenage female fairy with dark purple eyeshadow, dark purple lips, pointed ears, a dark magenta sleeveless tunic with green edges, dark brown straps and a lime green high collar, a brown bandage glove on her right arm, a light green lefty arm-warmer on her left arm, dark purple footed tights, brown knee-length boots, large violet and black butterfly wings

As a fairy, Roland has all of the typical traits found in a fairy/human-like stature standing only a few inches tall, with pointed ears and a pair of brown and orange butterfly wings. He is notably handsome by fairy standards, possessing a muscular physique, strong jawline, flawless skin, light green eyes, and blond hair. He notably wears a shining green and gold armor with leaf-patterns all over his body. Roland is notable for being dashing, confident, and incredibly narcissistic. He is handsome by fairy standards and knows it, flaunting it whenever he can. He is very shallow, holding physical appearance in great regard, as seen when he stops his troops every now and again to gawk at whatever creature they run into, noting their ugliness. He seems to hold his hair in great regard, twirling parts of it whenever he tries charming other people. He also has a squirrel which is his steed with a saddle and a green helmet with leaf designs like his armor

She is a goblin with short red hair, a dark green leafy dress, a headdress with stones, a stoney snake-chain necklace Griselda is a warm, friendly Goblin who cares about her son and his happiness. She also lacks her opposite, Fairy King's somewhat xenophobic attitude, showing no opposition to a goblin and a fairy being lovers. She is also very intuitive, believing that Marianne and Bog were meant for each other after seeing their chemistry. However, Bog considers his mother to be somewhat overbearing, as she constantly pushes him into a relationship. However, Griselda sometimes gets frustrated with Bog's incapability to find love again. despite her friendliness, Griselda is hostile to Sugar Plum for creating the love potion for her son leading to his ultimate heartbreak. She is Bog King's mother

What she was like before her imprisonment is unknown, but it is safe to assume that she was famous and well-beloved for her skills, as well as charitable enough to make a potion for the Bog King.

She enjoys teasing people, laughing as Sunny when she made him scream and even mocked him to shape-shifting into him to show him his frightened face.

After years of imprisonment, it can be safely assumed that the isolation has mildly eroded Sugar Plum's sanity to where she has become partially unstable. She is shown to be somewhat catatonic and unresponsive until Sunny showed her the primrose petal. She is prone to mood swings - switching gears of whether or not to make Sunny his potion with the promise of her freedom - and has become rather spiteful of the people who imprisoned her. She becomes desperate and is militant to the idea of expressing the truth behind Bog King's faux pas, using what went wrong as an aesop to those who misuse the potion. She is a light blue ethereal fairy smaller then normal fairy's

She has Blonde hair worn short and messy, silvery blue eyes, pink lips, pointed ears, pale blue dress with gold design with matching gloves and footed tights, large rose and pinkish-orange butterfly wings While Marianne is self-conscious and cynical, Dawn is optimistic and outgoing. She is outwardly annoyed by her sister's overprotective behavior, but she still cares deeply for her. She is seen on more than one occasion to flirt with a handful of other men, fickle over which boy she wants to pursue, and even flirts with total strangers. She seemed completely unaware of Sunny's crush on her until his cove broke the spell over her, to which she accepted his affections with open arms.
