Persona Attributes

Cruella de Vil

Cruella de Vil is a woman obsessed with fur coats. She has the left half of her hair white and the right half black, and she is always trying to kill Dalmatian puppies for their fur, using her two servants, two thieves named Horace and Gaspar.

Cruella de Vil - transforming

Cruella is an old school friend of Anita Radcliffe and a glamour-obsessed heiress who claims she can't live without fur. She hires Horace and Gaspar Badun, two incompetent thieves, to steal Pongo and Perdita's 15 Dalmatian puppies, and buys 84 more through legitimate means.

Unlike previous Disney villains such as the Evil Queen, Lady Tremaine, the Queen of Hearts, and Maleficent, Cruella is not a sorceress nor does she have any powers. Instead, she acts purely on impulse and is thus prone to reckless behavior, notably driving across the snowy landscape in her car. Unlike future versions of the character, this version of Cruella was seemingly invincible in the eyes of the Dalmatians, who, while able to hold off Gaspar and Horacio Badun, were unable to stand up to "that devilish woman". Cruella's defeat in the film is not due to the actions of the animals, but to her own stubbornness (which, by the end of the film, appears to have degenerated into a berserk rage) and the incompetence of her henchmen.

Cruella de Vil- personality

Cruella is known for being mean and rude, frequently breaking into other people's homes unannounced and openly disrespecting others. She loves attention, but looks down on others, showing no sympathy or concern for anyone's well-being.

She is also greedy and selfish, and loves high fashion and art. Her interest in fashion revolves around animal fur, especially fur coats, as she is always seen wearing one. Because of this, Cruella often seeks out animals to help her make the coats. Upon learning that Perdita has had puppies, Cruella attempted to buy them from Roger, showing no concern for the puppies themselves, as she had purchased 84 puppies legally. The reason for her obsession is that the spots will make her fur coats more popular, meaning she will get more money. Her interest in spots is so deep that she turned to Lars after seeing his painting of spots, as a way to replace her obsession.

Cruella is known for her short temper. She gets upset at Caspar and Horace's nonsense, and throws a tantrum when things don't go her way. Her anger seems to be a problem, as it makes her reckless and impulsive, as she drove her car recklessly after the Dalmatians but ended up crashing into a ravine. It is also possible that she is bipolar, as she is prone to psychotic breakdowns, her reckless driving being an example of this. This occurred again when she attempted to capture the puppies in London, only to end up in an institution. However, she seems to be a slightly reasonable woman, as she tried twice to convince Anita to sell Cruella her puppies, only opting to steal them when it became clear that was the only way to get them.

Cruella de Vil- appearance

Cruella is an extremely thin woman who almost looks skeletal due to her curves. She has pale skin, red lips, green eyes, and eyeshadow. She has shoulder-length hair, the two halves of which are different colors; the right side is black and the left side is white.

Cruella's usual outfit is a simple black dress, red high heels and black stockings, long red opera gloves, large turquoise earrings and a ring on her right hand, a cream fur coat with a red interior, and a matching handbag with three fox tails.

Cruella de Vil- apparitions (1/?)

Some time after Roger and Anita have married and settled down together, Perdita, Anita's Dalmatian, hears the screech of Cruella's car outside, and runs into the kitchen to hide from "that devil woman". Peeking out the window, Roger sees Cruella, whom he refers to as Anita's old schoolmate, approaching the house. As she approaches the front door, Roger sings an unflattering song about her. Anita tries to stop Roger for fear that Cruella might hear. Roger goes upstairs and uses various musical instruments to play the tune of the song when Cruella bursts in, demanding to see Pongo and Perdita's puppies, and leaving a trail of smoke from her cigarette. During her visit, Cruella expresses her love of fur, especially that of a Dalmatian (though she never elaborates on her plans), and also mocks Anita's choice to marry Roger and her house. Anita informs Cruella that the Dalmatian puppies won't be arriving for a few weeks. Cruella then leaves as quickly and as loudly as she arrived, saying that she'll be back in three weeks. A previously excited Perdita becomes nervous at Cruella's interest in the puppies, suspecting that she may have some horrible plan for them. Cruella returns to the Radcliffe home just after the 15 puppies are born. At first, she is furious that the "mongrels" have no spots, but when Anita tells her that the spots will appear in a few weeks, Cruella offers to buy all 15 immediately. Roger (after Cruella mocks his career as a composer and gets splattered, along with Pongo, with ink from a pen Cruella was using to write the check for the puppies) nervously but firmly stands up and says that they will not be selling the puppies, and Cruella storms off, vowing revenge. Later, Gaspar and Horatio manage to steal the puppies while the Radcliffes are away.

Cruella de Vil- apparitions (2/?)

At home, Cruella laughs as she reads of the theft in the newspaper; she is the orchestrator of the crime. The Baduns call her on the phone to demand payment, but are told that they will not receive anything until the job is done; she even dismisses their concerns about the fact that the dog kidnapping has appeared in the papers, believing that the whole spectacle will die down the next day. Hanging up the phone after mistaking Gaspar for telling Horacio to shut up, Cruella decides to call Anita and feigns surprise at the theft to avoid suspicion. Roger, however, is convinced that she is involved, even after Anita tells him that Scotland Yard has questioned and investigated her, but has been unable to find any evidence connecting her to the crime. When the police investigation seems to lose momentum, Pongo and Perdita take matters into their own hands by teaming up with the dogs of England to track down their puppies. They receive a tip from a Great Dane who explains that the puppies were seen being taken to De Vil's old haunt, Hell Hall, confirming Pongo and Perdita's suspicion that Cruella was behind the kidnapping.

Cruella de Vil- apparitions (3/?)

It is later revealed that 84 other puppies were legally purchased by Cruella and brought to the same location by the Baduns. Cruella arrives at Hell Hall and confronts her accomplices, demanding that "the job" be done immediately due to the police stepping up their investigation, revealing in the process that her plans are to kill the puppies and use their fur to create Dalmatian fur coats for herself. When Gaspar and Horace are slow to move, she bursts the former's bottle of alcohol in the fireplace (causing an explosion) and slaps them both to make her point, then storms off, threatening to report them to the police and make them take the blame for everything if they don't have the job done by the time she returns the next morning. Shortly afterward, Sergeant Tibbs manages to help the 99 Dalmatians escape the old mansion and reunite with his Pongo and Perdita, who decide to take in the other 84 puppies. As the 101 Dalmatians make their way back to their home in London, they are pursued by the Baduns and Cruella, who eventually learns of their escape. The three briefly lose track of the dogs after using a frozen stream to avoid leaving footprints. However, Cruella lashes out at Horatio for trying to give up, vowing to find the puppies even if it takes them until next Christmas, before speeding off again.

Cruella de Vil- apparitions (4/?)

Later, Cruella, Casper, and Horatio pick up the dogs' trail and follow it to a small town called Dinsford where they search for them. Cruella is initially fooled when the dogs cover themselves in soot to disguise themselves as Labradors and board a truck headed to London. However, when she sees the water droplets from the icicles washing away the soot, she realizes what is happening and chases the truck in her car, with Casper and Horatio following in their truck. Chasing the puppies, Cruella nearly manages to ram the trucker and the Dalmatians off a cliff, damaging her car badly during the chase. The chase, however, comes to an end when Casper and Horatio, attempting to cut off or hit the truck, accidentally collide with her car, sending Cruella, Horatio, and Casper over the cliff. All three survive, but Cruella is furious and subjects the Baduns to a dressing down, at which point Gaspar, fed up with her mistreatment of him and Horacio, finally works up the courage to tell her to shut up before she finally breaks down in tears over the destruction of her beloved car and the loss of her dream coat. They are then supposedly arrested.

Cruella de Vil- apparitions (5/?)

Cruella returns in the sequel, where she is first seen trying to get into Fitzwell's Fine Furs store, but is angrily thrown out by the manager, saying that the terms of her parole will not allow her to sell him any more furs. She then meets an artist named Lars, whom she quickly admires for his artistic vision. Lars' spot paintings prove to be a good substitute for Cruella's previous obsession. However, Cruella eventually grows bored of Lars' work, but to help him find inspiration, she goes to the house and is surprised that the puppies have disappeared. She has hit herself on the head with a newspaper thrown by the reporter and found Patch's picture and used the binoculars to see the new address on his dog tag where they have moved. Cruella frees Gaspar and Horatio to kidnap the Dalmatian puppies again.

Cruella de Vil- apparitions (6/6)

The duo kidnap the puppies and take them to Cruella's new home: the warehouse. Lars believes Cruella wants him to paint the puppies, but after discovering he would have to kill the puppies, he refuses, declaring that he may be eccentric, but he is not sick. He tells Cruella that he will not let him do any harm to the puppies. Angry, Cruella ties Lars to a large target and throws several knives at him as torture. He reverts back to his psychotic state, wishing for a new fur coat. Gaspar and Horace are tasked with killing the puppies again, but they escape. A chase through the city ensues, leading Patch to put the bus in reverse while Cruella is shocked that Brightheart is running and is shocked to be defeated in the River Thames. Afterwards, Cruella's crimes are finally explained to the police by Lars, Gaspar and Horacio and she is arrested and sent to a mental hospital to be treated for anger management, and presumably some form of obsessive-compulsive disorder and hallucinations (alluded to by her final lines of seeing spots). She is last seen in a newspaper photo of herself in the mental hospital tightly bound in a straitjacket and looking angry during the end credits.

Evil Queen- Personality

From the outside, the Queen appears to be calm, regal, and sophisticated, but in reality, this serene and majestic facade hides an extremely sadistic, hateful, cold, and sinister person. She is ruthless, jealous, and obsessive and wants nothing more than to be the fairest in the land before Snow White. She also has extreme vanity that made her completely intolerant of her rivals. Focusing solely on the idea of becoming the fairest of all, the Queen does not seem to be significantly involved in the governance of her kingdom, although the skeletal remains of the prisoners in her dungeon point to her being a cruel ruler. In the end, her insane vanity and jealousy of Snow White's superior beauty and the Prince's affections eventually drove her to murderous madness. She transformed herself into a hideous witch and conjured a poison called "The Sleeping Death" to achieve this end as a sign of her determination and desperation.

The Witch, being an alternate form of the Queen, has some of her personality traits, most notably her vanity and her unstable jealousy of Snow White, intact. However, due in part to the transformation, she has also become more maniacal and sadistic, constantly cackling maniacally and once trying to play an extremely cruel prank on her pet crow by making it look like it wanted to eat the poisoned apple. Despite her insanity, she was also extremely intelligent and calculating, wanting to make sure that she didn't overlook anything in order for her plans to be an absolute success. This trait was especially apparent when she paused while gloating about how the poisoned apple will guarantee Snow White.

Evil Queen- Appearance

“Her beauty is sinister, mature, with many curves... she becomes ugly and menacing by scheming and mixing her poisons; the magical fluids transform her into an old hag like witch. "” ―Walt Disney The Queen is a beautiful, icy woman with a calm, unfeeling face and a slender figure. She has pale skin, red lips, green eyes, and seemingly pencil-drawn eyebrows. During her transformation into her witch costume, it is suggested that she has long, chest-length black hair. Her features and royal attire create a very stunning and beautiful Queenly image. The Queen is seen wearing a purple dress with long sleeves and a red belt tied around her waist. She wears a black balaclava that covers her ears, neck, and hair, leaving her face exposed. The Queen wears a long, black cape that appears to be part of the hood. The cape is lined with red on the inside, and the bottom of the cape is lined with white fur. She has a tall white collar attached to her cape. She also wears a golden pendant that appears to connect to the necklace. She also wears orange-yellow high-heeled shoes. To top off her royal look, the Evil Queen wears a golden crown on her head with 5 spikes at the front and a jewel at the tip of the middle and highest spike. The color scheme of her outfit represents her pride and vanity.

Evil Queen - Appearances (1/?)

Jealous of her stepdaughter Snow White's beauty, the Queen forces her to work as a servant in her castle; however, even in rags and wooden shoes, Snow White's beauty shines through, causing the Queen to worry that Snow White's beauty will one day surpass her own. She is so vane that she consults her Magic Mirror every day, commanding the slave within to reveal the name of the fairest in the land. Every day, the spirit says that the Queen is the fairest, and she is content until the mirror informs her that Snow White has finally become the fairest in the land. Outside, as Snow White works, she sings to herself, attracting the attention of the Prince, who passes by and they instantly fall in love with each other. The Queen watches from her window, unseen by the two lovers, and, jealous of Snow White's beauty and the Prince's affection, furiously closes the curtains.

Evil Queen - Appearances (2/?)

Summoning her faithful Huntsman, the Queen orders him to take Snow White to a secluded spot in the forest, where she can gather wild flowers and kill her. She presents him with a box, in which Snow White's heart is to be brought as proof. The Huntsman is reluctant to carry out such a deed, but, knowing the penalty of failure, he takes Snow White deep into the forest. Just as he is about to stab the princess, he finds that he cannot destroy such innocent beauty and, frantically warning Snow White of the Queen's vanity and jealousy, tells her to flee into the forest. He returns to the Queen, bringing in the box the heart of a boar to trick her. Meanwhile, Snow White finds the cottage of the seven dwarfs and is found by the dwarfs, to whom she tells of the Queen's attempts to kill her. They fear the Queen's dark magic, especially since he grumpily refers to her as an "old hag" and suggests that she may have already discovered them, made herself invisible, and is watching them right now. However, they take pity on her and agree to take her in.

Evil Queen - Appearances (3/?)

That night, the Queen consults the slave at the Magic Mirror again, who tells her that Snow White is living in the Seven Dwarfs' cottage and that the Huntsman has brought her a pig's heart after she believes Snow White to be dead in the woods. Furious after realizing she has been tricked, the Queen descends a spiral staircase, entering a dark chamber filled with arcane and magical artifacts, as well as her pet raven perched on a skull. She decides to go to the cottage herself, disguised as a peddler. Consulting a book on disguises and seeking a formula to transform her beauty into ugliness, she mixes the necessary potion ingredients (though she can guess exactly how she prepared most of them into a tangible form for the concoction), such as mummy dust to make her old, the black of night to coat her clothes, an old cackle to age her voice, a cry of fear to whiten her hair, a gust of wind to fan her hatred, and finally a bolt of lightning to mix it all together. After gathering all the ingredients, she begins her magic spell as she drinks the potion and magically transforms from a majestically beautiful queen into an ugly old hag, including white hair, wrinkled skin and hands. Her royal attire turns into a peddler's cloak and her voice changes as well and she declares that it is a perfect disguise. She then decides to get rid of Snow White with a poisoned apple, which will send its victim to the "Sleeping Death".

Evil Queen - Appearances (4/?)

The Witch prepares the poison and dips an apple into the brew, turning it black, then, as per her command, a tempting red, giving the poisoned fruit the appearance of an ordinary, if not exceptionally appetizing, apple. She then voices her plot to her raven, before her boastful declarations are halted by the chances of her plans facing failure. To ensure that no antidote stands in her way, she consults her spell book, quickly discovering that the victim of the "Sleeping Death" can only be revived by "Love's First Kiss". This brings her no fear or apprehension, as she firmly believes that the dwarves, since they would think Snow White is truly dead, will bury her alive. Laughing to herself, she puts the apple into a basket and walks through the dungeon below, leaving the castle's catacombs on a raft. As she makes her way down the catacombs, she passes a skeleton who appears to reach for an empty water jug and sarcastically asks if he wants a drink before kicking the jug at the skeleton, shattering it into pieces. As she heads towards the dwarves' hut, two sinister vultures spot her and, sensing that death is imminent, silently pursue her.

Evil Queen - Appearances (5/5)

She arrives at the cottage and, as per plan, finds that the dwarves are gone and Snow White is alone. Taking her by surprise as she is making a currant pie for the dwarves, the Witch poses as an apple-giver and offers her the apple, claiming that apple pies are the superior dish and offers the poisoned apple for Snow White to try. However, as the reunion ensues, Snow White's bird companions notice the vultures watching them and anticipating what is to come, indirectly informing them that the Witch has evil intentions. They attack her before Snow White can seize the apple, successfully delaying the former's plot, though Snow White orders them to leave, as she still believes the Witch to be a harmless saleswoman. The Witch cleverly uses Snow White's kindness to her advantage and pretends to be shaken by the attack, asking for shelter within the cottage, to which Snow White obliges. This forces the birds and other animals of the forest to rush to the diamond mines and alert the dwarves of what is happening. House of Mousehundreds of feet below her death. The rock falls after her, crushing her body and ensuring her demise. The dwarves then look over the cliff to see her lifeless body, and the two vultures fly down the cliff to devour her remains.

Nor does he hesitate to send his clumsy henchman Gazeem to certain death.

When he takes possession of the lamp, Jafar reveals his true personality, sinister, exaggerated and perverse. He is shown to be much more thirsty for power, and is even very impulsive. He also pretends to make Jasmine love him, although this desire is only lust.

Jafar is usually shown to be somewhat comical and daring, which humanizes his character a lot. He has his own humor and makes several puns, such as when Aladdin and his friends try to get the lamp and he says things like: "Your time is running out!", and he puts Princess Jasmine in an hourglass; "Don't play with me!", and he turns Abu the monkey into a toy; "Your plan is quickly unraveling!", and the Magic Carpet unravels.

Jafar- story (1/3)

Little is known about Jafar's past. At some point, he bought Iago at a bazaar to be his henchman.

He has traveled around the world collecting artifacts and knowledge about magic since becoming Vizier of Agrabah, manipulating the Sultan even with hypnosis in order to rule the kingdom. In this film, Jafar is the Grand Vizier of the Sultan of Agrabah. He plans to find the Genie's Magic Lamp to make the wish of becoming Sultan and achieving power, but the only one who can enter the Cave of Wonders, where the Lamp resides, is Aladdin. Jafar disguises himself as an old man to hide his identity and tells the boy to bring him the Lamp in exchange for many riches. However, when Aladdin is bringing him the lamp, he senses Jafar's betrayal and realizes that he wants to kill him. With the help of his monkey Abu, he frees himself from him, but falls into the Cave and is trapped inside with the Lamp.

Advised by his faithful parrot Iago, he attempts to marry Princess Jasmine and thus become sultan, but Prince Ali Ababua appears to marry her. Jafar orders his assassination, but Ali is miraculously saved and unmasks him before the Sultan and Jasmine. Jafar escapes, and later discovers that Ali is actually Aladdin, who has been made prince by the Genie of the Lamp.

Jafar- story (2/3)

Jafar orders Iago to steal the Lamp and bring it to him. After Iago succeeds, Jafar rubs the Lamp and the Genie appears, and makes a wish to be Sultan. As a second wish, he asks to be the "Most Powerful Sorcerer in the World." After having gained power, Aladdin tries to take the Lamp from him to become the Genie's master again, but Jafar catches him. Aladdin tells him that even if he has power, he will never be as powerful as the Genie, so Jafar finally wishes to be an all-powerful Genie. And, having made the wish, Jafar fulfills the consequences of being a Genie by being imprisoned (along with Iago) in a black Magic Lamp. And the Blue Genie throws Jafar's Lamp into the desert. In the sequel to the first film, Iago is shown with Jafar's Lamp in the desert. The two argue about being trapped in it, and Iago, tired of putting up with Jafar, throws his Lamp into a well. At night, Abis Mal, a pathetic thief, and his helpers are drawing water from the well and Abis Mal finds Jafar's Lamp. He rubs it thinking that after cleaning it he can exchange it for some coins, and a large cloud of smoke comes out of it. The thieves run away like cowards, while Abis Mal stands still, surprised at what happens. From the Lamp, Jafar emerges as a Genie, and Abis Mal is terrified, but Jafar returns to his human form and explains that he needs revenge on Aladdin. Abis Mal, who also wants revenge on him for stealing from him, agrees to go with Jafar to Agrabah.

Jafar- story (3/3)

Jafar discovers that Iago is now Aladdin's friend, and forces him to betray him for his vile plan: first he convinces

Aladdin is lured into going with the Sultan and the Carpet on a hike to a canyon, and then kidnaps the elderly ruler. To make sure the Genie doesn't bother him, Jafar has a magic duel with him, which he eventually wins. Jafar transforms into Jasmine and has Aladdin convicted of the Sultan's supposed murder. However, his trap backfires when Iago releases the Blue Genie. The evil Jafar confronts Aladdin in a stunning final battle, as lava and rocks tear apart the palace of Agrabah, but is defeated when a repentant and finally redeemed Iago throws his lamp into the lava, causing Jafar to die amidst horrible screams and disintegrate.

As a child, he had slightly disheveled hair, with the ends standing up on top, though he retained a ponytail. He also had freckles, and his attire consisted of a shirt, pants, and elf-like shoes.

Gaston- personality (1/2)

Gaston is strong and handsome, and exploits these characteristics to the fullest. He is very popular in his village, who do not seem to realise his true nature, and this serves to feed his ego. A narcissist who sees himself as superior to everyone around him, Gaston is rude, uneducated and sexist.

He is also arrogant, as shown by his setting up a wedding before even proposing to Belle under the expectation that she would approve of becoming his wife. He was also convinced that he is powerful enough to defeat the Beast by himself. He even mocks the Beast, wishing to fight him as he wants to prove that he can kill in a fair fight. However, his arrogance causes him to underestimate his opponent and once he realizes that his life is in danger, his apparent facade disappears and he will beg for his life when he is overwhelmed. Despite this, he was not arrogant enough to believe that there was no risk of dying at the hands of the Beast, as he freely admits that in fighting the Beast he stands the likelihood that he or the other villagers could very likely die.

Gaston- personality (2/2)

Gaston suffers from a state of obsessive love which is shown by his intense obsession with Belle. In fact, he is so obsessed with her that he ignores all the other pretty women in the village who would be happy to be his wife, although ironically, those technically correspond to Gaston's standards of how women should behave. When Gaston is singing about wanting to marry her in the opening song, he says, "When I met her I saw her and said she's beautiful and I fell," implying that he fell in love with the beauty at first sight. The Marvel Comics series also implies that he had strong feelings for Belle ever since they were children. These facts imply that another reason for his relentless pursuit of Belle is to satisfy his pride which may have been hurt by her resistance to him.

Gaston is also an adulterer (at least in the musical), as it is stated to Claudia and her sisters that his "dates" with the girls will continue after he marries Belle, making it clear that he neither knows nor cares that marriage is a one-woman commitment or that it is supposed to be based on love and affection rather than property ownership.

Gaston- skills (1/2)

Gaston is shown to possess a tremendous amount of physical strength, demonstrated by his effort lifting a bench with three grown women on it as well as holding it with one hand. He later effortlessly rips a stone ornament from the castle for use as a makeshift weapon during his battle with the Beast. He is also able to fire his blunderbuss with pinpoint accuracy, noted by LeFou proclaiming, "Whoa! You didn't miss a shot, Gaston!" This, however, is briefly contradicted in the Marvel comics, where he managed to miss a rabbit despite being quite close. Additionally, he has been shown to be an expert archer during the climax at the castle. He is also shown to be skilled in stealth attacks, as implied by the song "Gaston" with the lyrics: "No one's slick as Gaston" and confirmed when he manages to stab the Beast in the back while the latter was joyfully fussing over Belle's return despite having to climb several areas to reach him.

Gaston- skills (2/2)

Despite his contrary revulsion to the idea of reading, ideas, and general intelligence (especially in women), he is shown to be an expert plotter, having come up with the idea of blackmail. He also has decent enough observational skills to pick up on the hint that Belle may have feelings for the Beast with only a few subtle clues late into the film. He is also very good at manipulation; after discovering that Belle was in love with the Beast, he used the villagers' ignorance and prejudices (as well as his own popularity) to rally them in order to kill the Beast. Despite this, however, he is ultimately shown to be very reckless with regard to his planning. This is especially evident in Gaston's reprise where he loudly divulged in a crowded locale enough key details about his blackmail plan to have them all, but ensured that everyone knew his true nature.

Gaston- appearances (1/3)

Gaston is the local hero of a small French village at an unknown point in French history. He owns a large tavern where he and the villagers drink and talk. Inside, there is a large portrait of himself, along with "trophies" from his hunt consisting mostly of antlered animals. He also says that he eats five dozen eggs every morning to help keep him about "the size of a barge."

It opens in the film with him returning from a hunting trip and declaring his intention to marry Belle after acknowledging to his sidekick and henchman, Lefou, her popularity with the women in the village. He then begins his search for Belle throughout the village on her return home after purchasing a book from the local bookstore. The encounter starts off well, but Gaston takes away the book Belle was reading, saying how can she read it if it doesn't have any illustrations and comments that it's not good for a woman to read because she starts to get ideas and think. After saying these things about women, Belle goes home, leaving him disappointed.

Gaston- appearances (2/3)

The next day, despite her initial reluctance, Gaston arranges a wedding outside Belle's garden as a "surprise" for her, complete with a priest and wedding cake. He forces his way into Belle's house and attempts to propose to her by making sexist remarks about women and her being his housekeeper, his abrupt behavior causes Belle, who manages to open the door and literally throws him out of her house, causing him to lose his balance and fly headfirst into a large puddle of mud (with cattail plants) in front of Belle's house, ridiculing him in front of almost the entire village, after the great humiliation, his anger begins to build.

Lefou, along with the villagers at a local bar, sing a song about Gaston's greatness to cheer him up after he has been rejected by Belle, when Maurice, Belle's father, interrupts and warns the villagers about a monstrous Beast who has kidnapped Belle as a prisoner in his castle tower; they think he is insane, and the villagers throw him out of the bar. Gaston then decides to use Maurice's madness to his advantage by paying the asylum's owner, Monsieur D'Arque, to help him orchestrate a plan to have Maurice put in the asylum unless Belle agrees to marry him, but Belle manages to prove that her father is not insane by utilizing a magic mirror that the Beast had given her. Gaston's anger grows even more after his plan fails, and upon learning that Belle has feelings for the Beast and not him.

Gaston- appearances (3/3)

Furious, Gaston snatches Belle's mirror in his zeal and pride and convinces the villagers that the Beast is a monster that will eat children and attack the village, and must be destroyed immediately. Belle tries to stop Gaston, but, sensing that Belle is against him, he locks Belle and Maurice in the cellar to prevent them from warning the Beast.

Gaston and the villagers go to the Beast's castle to kill him. As the battle between the villagers and the castle's servants rages, Gaston faces the Beast alone. He shoots an arrow at him, and the Beast drops to a lower section of the roof as Gaston taunts him. When the Beast fails to respond, having lost his will to live since Belle left to rescue her lost father, Gaston uses an arm from a stone gargoyle to try to kill the Beast. The Beast, however, regains his strength when he sees Belle return, and brutally fights back. He soon has Gaston at his mercy, not doing anything to him, as he knows he is not a monster like Gaston. However, when the Beast climbs onto a balcony to join Belle, Gaston manages to injure the Beast by stabbing him in the back with a dagger, but Gaston trips and falls into the abyss.

He always wears his black judge's robe with purple motifs, he has a large purple and black striped cap with a red ribbon and red and black striped shoulder pads. He also wears yellow rings on his fingers, two on the right and one on the left, with red, green and blue jewels.

Claude Frollo- personality

Frollo is the embodiment of pure evil (see template) but primarily has a strong anti-Gypsyism (a deathly hatred of Gypsies), and has sent his guards to hunt down the beautiful Gypsy Esmeralda for witchcraft, in order to condemn her to death at the stake. Although she has become his greatest enemy, being one of those whose heart Esmeralda has managed to steal, he is a cruel and corrupt government official who uses his place in power to achieve his own extreme ends, even employing common thugs to enforce his interpretation of God's will while posing as "soldiers".

Claude Frollo- personality

He also believes his actions are out of religious intent but is nothing more than a hypocrite as he blames the church but not himself. Interestingly, while most Disney villains know what they do is wrong (and don't care or take pride in it), Frollo actually believes he is a good person or at least believes his actions are for the greater good, making him a very three-dimensional character as well. He repeatedly refuses to find fault with himself and is rather self-righteous, declaring himself far purer than "the vulgar, weak, and licentious common multitude" and to be above the Biblical doctrine that all men are equally sinful, confirming him as a narcissist. He believes everything he does is in the name of God, even when he attacks Notre Dame Cathedral in order to catch, arrest, and execute a Romani woman, but all of those acts lead to his end being punished for his evilness when a demon manifests in front of him and they fall together into Hell.

Claude Frollo - story (1/6)

Twenty years ago, Frollo discovered a gypsy family arriving in Paris. The woman ran away from him, but the judge chased her, thinking she was carrying stolen goods. At the entrance to Notre Dame, he pushed her down the steps at the foot of the cathedral, thus killing her. When Judge Frollo saw that what she was carrying was a hideous baby, he threw it down a well, disgusted by its ugliness. When the Archdeacon discovers it, telling him that he will sin for it, Frollo promised to take care of the gypsy's hideous baby by raising and teaching it for eighteen years while working as Notre Dame's bell ringer, naming it Quasimodo, which means "malformed".

Claude Frollo - story (2/6)

Twenty years later, Frollo, now Minister of Justice, summons the brave war soldier Phoebus to be his new Captain of the Guard, as the latter was "a bit of a disappointment" to him and is being tortured to death in the Palace of Justice. He hopes to drive the Roma out of Paris with Phoebus' help and go to Heaven when he dies (something impossible, due to his many misdeeds). While attending the annual Festival of Fools, Frollo discovers a Roma dancer named Esmeralda, who attracts him with her beauty. He soon learns that Quasimodo left the Belfry against his orders, entered the Festival, and was crowned King of Fools. Frollo refuses to help Quasimodo when the latter is being publicly attacked by the crowd to teach him a lesson, even when the hunchback implores his help; he delays Phoebus' request to stop him. He is enraged when Esmeralda openly challenged him for his cruelty and frees Quasimodo. In retaliation, he orders her to be arrested. After seeing her disappear into a cloud, he rashly concludes that she is a witch and immediately orders Phoebus to bring her back alive. With the help of the crowd, Esmeralda escapes to the Cathedral, where Frollo finds her talking to Phoebus and orders them to force her out of the Cathedral, but the Archdeacon rebuffs her and orders them all out. Frollo pretends to leave before surprising Esmeralda and laying his hands on her; this reveals that he had lustful feelings for her. He then confronts her and tells her that he will arrest her if she dares to leave. However, she ventures to the bell tower and is reunited with Quasimodo, who helps her escape.

Claude Frollo - story (3/6)

That night at the Palace of Justice, Frollo is disturbed by his attraction to Esmeralda, which he believes is turning him into a sin and begs the Virgin Mary to protect him from her "spell" and to let Esmeralda taste the fires of Hell if she would not be his. Learning from a Brutish Guard that she has escaped from the cathedral, he becomes enraged and, with his guards the next day, begins a ruthless manhunt to find her, burning down the homes of anyone suspected of harboring Romani people and interrogating any Romani people who are caught. He later attempts to execute an innocent family he suspects of interacting with Romani by burning down their house with them still inside. A horrified Phoebus eventually rebels against him and rescues the family. Frollo declares Phoebus a traitor and attempts to kill him, but a disguised Esmeralda throws a rock at his horse, knocking him off and giving Phoebus time to escape. The guards shoot arrows at Phoebus, who is wounded and falls into the river, and continue to shoot until Frollo stops them. They proceed across a bridge to end the chase. Once they are gone, a wounded Phoebus is quickly rescued by Esmeralda after having been left for dead.

Claude Frollo - story (4/6)

Upon returning to the burning city, Frollo is informed that Esmeralda is still at large. He heads to the bell tower, thinking that Quasimodo might have been responsible for helping Esmeralda. To get the truth out of him, he gives Quasimodo some grapes, hinting to Quasimodo that he knows he is hiding a secret, this is true as Phoebus survived and was in the bell tower. Eventually, Frollo deduces that Quasimodo helped Esmeralda escape after finding the wooden figure of her that Quasimodo made. Frollo angrily attacks him and is on the verge of physical abuse, but when he realizes he is losing his breath, he calms down. Suspecting that Quasimodo still has connections to Esmeralda, Frollo lies to him that he has found the Court of Miracles and is ready to attack at dawn, which was a trick. A deluded Quasimodo accompanies Phoebus to court, and Frollo and his henchmen follow them and arrest the Romani. Frollo praises Quasimodo for leading him to them and admits that he would never have found him without his help. He then notices that Phoebus has survived and remarked that he intended to "remedy" him. Seeing this, Quasimodo begs him to recall the guards. Frollo refuses and tells them to take the hunchback to the bell tower, ensuring that he stays there. In the square, Frollo sentences Esmeralda to death, but offers to save her from immolation if she chooses. She refuses to become Frollo's lustful slave, spitting in his face in contempt, prompting him to burn her at the stake. He watches and smiles sadistically as she passes out from the smoke. But Quasimodo rescues her after she faints and returns her to the cathedral, much to Frollo's anger. Shortly afterward, Quasimodo drops a large bolt of lightning that destroys her carriage and nearly crushes it, the same bolt of lightning that Frollo orders his soldiers to pick up and use to break down the doors of Notre Dame.

Claude Frollo - story (5/6)

Angered by this desecration and attack on the beloved cathedral, as well as fed up with Frollo's tyranny and rallied by Phoebus, the citizens of Paris arm themselves, liberate the Roma, and revolt against Frollo's guards. Although the ancient doors of Notre Dame manage to hold out for a time, they are eventually breached. Frollo manages to enter the cathedral, directly challenging the archdeacon when he states that he would not tolerate violence in the church. Frollo ignores him and throws him down a flight of stairs, then locks him outside the bell tower so that he will not follow and interfere.

He then confronts Quasimodo in the bell tower, falsely comforting him over Esmeralda's apparent "death" and attempting to kill him with a dagger, resulting in a brief but violent struggle in which Quasimodo overpowers Frollo, knocks the dagger out of his hands and throws him to the floor. Quasimodo then looms over Frollo, who momentarily abandons his pride and begs Quasimodo to listen to him. But Quasimodo refuses, angrily shouting that all his life Frollo has told him the world is a dark and cruel place, but now he sees that people who are like Frollo are the only reason why. Just then, Esmeralda awakens, alive and well, and Quasimodo rushes to her side, overjoyed that she is okay and carries her to safety. Enraged, Frollo draws his sword and chases them to a balcony overlooking the city, slashing them with his sword with Quasimodo unable to defend himself due to Esmeralda's protection.

Claude Frollo - story (6/6)

In his rage, Frollo finally admits that he killed Quasimodo's mother when she tried to save her baby, much to Quasimodo's shock and horror. As such, Frollo decides to kill Quasimodo himself as he "should have done 20 years ago." In their brief fight, Frollo and Quasimodo are left dangling over molten lava. As Esmeralda desperately tries to save Quasimodo, Frollo manages to recover by positioning himself on top of a gargoyle and raises his sword to attack Esmeralda. With his eyes and teeth glowing a demonic fire-like color, Frollo laughs maniacally as he declares his final blasphemy: "And He shall smite the wicked and plunge them into the pit of fire!" Immediately after uttering these words, the gargoyle he is standing on begins to break loose and causes Frollo to lose his balance, managing to grab it at the last second but dropping his sword in the process. As he clings to the gargoyle for dear life, the stone beast appears to come to life and roars demonically at Frollo, terrifying the latter until he screams (whether this is Frollo hallucinating in his final moments, the cathedral giving the gargoyle life, or even full-blown divine intervention is unclear). The gargoyle then shatters completely, sending a screaming Frollo plummeting into the vast lake of molten copper below to his death, symbolically sending him to Hell for his sins and wickedness.

Hades- description

Hades is as evil as he is funny. He is perverse, and he is the lord and master of the Underworld, he is the God of the Dead. He has fire instead of hair, and he is jealous of his brother Zeus, the leader of all the gods. He longs to be the king of the gods, to do so he needs to kill his brother, but to do so he must get rid of Hercules. He has as his henchmen two imps called Pena and Panic, and Meg, a girl who belongs to Hades because she sold her soul to him, although luckily for her, in the end she is freed from this burden.

Hades- appearances (1/4)

Hades first appears on Mount Olympus during Hercules' christening. None of the gods are pleased to see him. After greeting them, Hades approaches baby Hercules' crib and attempts to put a skull-shaped pacifier into the baby's mouth. He almost succeeds, but then the baby grabs and squeezes his finger, causing the pacifier to fall and he begins to swear at Hercules under his breath. After Zeus fails to cheer him up, Hades leaves in pain. Humiliated by his brother in front of the other deities, he leaves Olympus for the Underworld to plan his takeover of Olympus. Hades asks Grief and Panic if the Fates have arrived before they reveal that they are waiting for him. Enraged that his minions had not previously alerted him, Hades goes and consults with the Fates about their plan to take over Mount Olympus. He is told that when the planets align eighteen years later, Hades will be able to unleash the horrible Titans and they will lead him to victory and power. However, if Hercules intervenes, everything will backfire.

Hades- appearances (2/4)

Hades sends Pena and Panic to turn Hercules mortal with a special potion so they can kill him, but as Hercules does not drink the last drop, he retains his godly strength and uses it to defend himself. Pena and Panic cover up their failure by claiming they killed Hercules, allowing Hades to continue his planning. In the mix, he meets a girl named Megara who sells her soul to him in order to save her boyfriend's life. However, once she has revived, the boy abandons Meg for another woman, breaking her heart and leaving her in Hades' hands. Since then, Meg has been working with Hades to rule Olympus, though she simply does so because she has no other choice, and often mocks the god's temper with a sarcastic quip. Years later, Hades sends Meg to recruit Nesso. However, this backfires when Hercules intervenes. When Hades discovers through this that Hercules was still alive, he takes matters into his own hands. Using Meg to lure Hercules into a set contest to face the Hydra, Hades smugly smiles as he watches the man destined to defeat him struggle under the attacks, only for Hercules to kill the Hydra in a rockslide that appears to have killed them both, until Hercules emerges from the monster's grasp. After sending an army of monsters to defeat Hercules, all of which fail, Hades sends Megara to seduce Hercules and find his weakness.

Hades- apparitions (3/4)

Megara falls in love with Hercules on their next date and forgets about the quest, simply stating that she has no weakness when he asks. Hades deduces that Hercules' love for Megara is his weakness and uses it to trick Hercules into giving up his godly strength for a day for Meg's safety. Hercules agrees and Hades, knowing that Hercules will not interfere, not only frees the Titans at last but also sends the Cyclops to kill Hercules while he is powerless. Meanwhile, Hades ignites an attack on Mount Olympus, successfully imprisoning Zeus and the other deities in the process, thus allowing the throne to fall into his hands. During the Cyclops' attack on Hercules, a pillar falls on Meg, severely injuring her. This breaks Hades' promise that Meg would not be harmed, resulting in Hercules regaining his strength. Hercules proceeds to Mount Olympus, where he confronts the Titans and eventually defeats them, thwarting Hades' invasion. However, Meg has died from her wounds (thanks to the Fates cutting her life thread) and Hades claims her soul as his consolation prize, knowing how much her death will hurt Hercules.

Hades- apparitions (4/4)

Hercules breaks into the Underworld, subdues Cerberus, and confronts Hades, demanding that Meg be returned to him. Hades smugly explains to Hercules that Meg is dead and he cannot get her back. Hercules offers his soul in exchange for Meg's and Hades displays a moment of being a gender-savvy, seeing the deal as almost too good to be true. However, he decides to accept the condition that Hercules must retrieve her himself. It is not until Hercules has already plunged into the River Styx that Hades cries out that the former will be dead before he can reach Meg. The Fates attempt to cut the thread of Hercules' life, but are unable to. Hercules' genuinely heroic sacrifice results in him becoming a god, making him immortal. Hercules emerges from the river, carrying Meg's soul. Hades, astonished, attempts to gently talk to Hercules again, who angrily strikes him, sending Hades into the river, where he is overrun by the souls trapped within and dragged into its depths. It is unknown what happened to him afterwards, though Grief and Panic's comment implies that Hades may be trapped within the river for quite some time, if not eternity.

Hades- personalities (1/3)

Hades is generally calm, cool, and collected. Though his machinations are cruel, Hades' casual approach to villainy makes him a broadly comical character with an irreverent, self-aware style of humor (though his jokes are usually played for his own twisted amusement and at the expense of others). However, this is partly surface-level; Hades is eternally bitter and imperious, with his most famous trait being his uncontrollably fiery temper. Sometimes, the smallest of inconveniences can send Hades over the edge, causing fiery fits and extreme damage to the area and people around him, depending on the situation. This quality makes him a feared figure among Greece and beyond, especially in the eyes of his minions, Pena and Panic.

Hades- personalities (2/3)

For all his power, Hades is no match for his older brother. However, what Hades lacks in physical strength, he makes up for in cunning. He is incredibly meticulous with his scheming, going so far as to patiently wait eighteen years to unleash an attack on Mount Olympus. He is also quite analytical; witnessing Hercules' strength firsthand, Hades instantly knew that his newborn nephew could cause trouble with his plans and tried to eliminate the problem immediately, albeit to no avail.

Hades- personalities (3/3)

Aside from his own intellect, Hades relies on charlatanry to get what he wants rather than his godly power, acting along the lines of a sleazy car salesman or con man. Still, he is an honest god and keeps his end of the bargain with every deal, no matter what the stakes are. Furthermore, Hades seems to be willing to give people second chances, as he constantly assigns important tasks to Pena and Panic despite their constant failures. It is also implied that he is somewhat sympathetic to Megara, as he is willing to free Meg (or at least reduce her time in servitude) as long as she helps him conquer Olympus. Furthermore, when reminded of how she ended up as his prisoner, Hades called Megara's ex-boyfriend a "creepy", implying that even Hades was disgusted by what he did after Meg saved him.
