He is not one to follow the rules. Considering legal and physical laws to be meaningless and demonstrating an irresistible desire to break them, Bill has his own selfish philosophy: do what you want and don't care about the consequences.

When Bill possessed Dipper's body, he hurt himself in various ways, not out of masochistic inclinations, but because he found hurting someone else's body "funny". However, Bill has little knowledge of human physical limitations, which sometimes backfires on him.

Bill also has a god-like ability: he is able to see the world through any image of himself. He eventually took over and turned the swirling, ever-shifting intergalactic foam between dimensions into a lair for himself and his minions: a lawless, unstable space between worlds known as the Nightmare Realm. Unfortunately, due to the lack of any laws, including the laws of physics, it was doomed to self-destruct. He had been searching for a way out ever since, until a billion years before the events of the series, he learned of a prophecy that he would merge the Nightmare Realm with the three-dimensional space. He began to manipulate countless people in order to achieve this goal and become a physical being. Without a physical form, Bill could only visit the dreams of the dimension's inhabitants. Among his targets were the natives who lived in what would become Gravity Falls, Oregon . He asked a shaman named Modoc to build an interstellar gateway to the Nightmare Dimension. The natives complied with his wishes and built a gateway, albeit one made of twigs. After Modoc learned of a prophecy that foretold an apocalyptic event , he set himself on fire in an attempt to stop Bill's reign. The valley was dubbed the "cursed land" and the natives fled. They managed to defeat Bill using a zodiac with ten symbols ; they left a painting in a cave depicting their fight with Bill, as well as information on how to summon him and, more importantly, a warning to "never read" the writing.

In the late twentieth century, a young scientist named Stanford Pines , who had spent the last six years investigating the town's many anomalies and oddities, began to wonder why there were so many anomalies in Gravity Falls and where they came from. While searching for an answer, he found a cave filled with mysterious hieroglyphics, which gave him hope that he might find the answers - the message in the cave spoke of an all-knowing entity. Despite the warning, Ford cast a spell out loud, summoning Bill into his mind. Bill quickly realized that the driven, intelligent, yet gullible Ford would be his perfect pawn. He tricked Ford by posing as a muse who inspired great minds. He informed Ford that the source of the town's anomalies was another dimension, whose oddities had leaked into this world. With Bill's help, Ford prepared plans to create a universal portal under his house , and also invited his friend from the university, Fiddleford McGucket, to work there. On January 18, 1982, Ford and Fiddleford performed the first test of the working machine, which quickly went wrong. The dummy dragged Fiddleford into the portal with it. Although Ford quickly rescued him, Fiddleford returned with terrifying visions of an apocalyptic catastrophe. McGucket begged Ford to destroy the machine, but he refused to give up his life's work, so McGucket left the project. During a conversation with his former ally, Bill, Ford learned that the portal would allow demons to wreak havoc on the universe. Horrified and betrayed, Ford shut down the project and created Project Mentem to protect against Bill's influence. Unfortunately, fear of Bill's imminent return leads Ford to abandon his research and hide the instructions for operating the portal. Bill spends the next thirty years waiting for the portal to be reactivated.

Each time he appears, Bill offers to help the characters and manipulates them in an attempt to achieve his goal. The funny thing is that despite the fact that Bill is a villain who cannot be trusted, he has always been honest even during Weirdmageddon and during almost all of his appearances to the heroes, he is right in his statements: "Think about it, who would be willing to sacrifice everything for some stupid sister or brother?" - Bill's remark, where he threatened to disrupt Mabel's performance if the girl did not give him the diary. He was right - Mabel repeatedly acted selfishly throughout the series towards other people, even if she didn't realize it due to her age. It was this remark from Bill that made the girl think about her behavior and improve in the future. For the first time, Mabel doubted whether she really behaved so well towards the people close to her, and in the MAB-3L dimension she directly saw her behavior from the outside and realized her mistakes - all thanks to Bill. “In my opinion, one sock doll is not so valuable compared to all the secrets of the Universe. And then, how your sister behaves - how many times have you sacrificed yourself for her, huh? Has she ever done the same for you?” - Bill's remark, where he directly showed Dipper his sister's selfish behavior and thus incited him to make a deal - Dipper knew that this was dangerous, that he was endangering everyone close to him, including himself. Almost every time Bill appears, selfishness awakens in all the characters - which results in unpleasant consequences for them.

When he appeared to Mabel in Blendin's body, even though she didn't even know it was Bill, selfishness awoke inside her and befuddled her mind - she gave Bill an interdimensional crack and unknowingly provoked Weirdmageddon - she was in despair, and Bill took advantage of it. Bill came to Stanford when he was desperately looking for the source of all the anomalies in the town and could not do anything. Thanks to the spell that Ford read, Bill awakened egoism inside the young and gullible scientist, which he used to lead Ford to build a bridge between the three-dimensional dimension and the Kingdom of Nightmares - the Universal Portal - thereby laying the foundation for his entry into the world of people and his " liberation." Bill came to Dipper when he was desperately trying to figure out the password to the laptop with information about the author. The demon offered him a deal, during which he would give the boy a hint (by the way, the demon kept his part of the deal). He convinced the boy that his sister was acting arrogantly towards him and everyone else, and that she shouldn’t help with her performance, because he also had important things to do. These words clouded Dipper's mind and selfishness awoke in him - he made a deal with the demon, knowing that this could not be done and that the consequences could be catastrophic. An interesting feature of Bill Cipher is that even though he is a villain, he is always honest and keeps his word, even in the most insane and shocking actions. Even with his physical form, he did not destroy Gravity Falls in an instant - Weirdmageddon laid the foundation for a fair fight between Bill - a threat to the whole world, and the Pines family - who provided him with this opportunity to become a threat. Only when everyone suppressed their selfishness did Bill manage to defeat and save Gravity Falls.

Gravity Falls is a mysterious, sleepy town in eastern Oregon where mysterious and supernatural phenomena often occur. Although the town was initially only a small settlement, Tremblay acted as its first mayor, setting local laws . The town boomed in the late 1840s during the Gold Rush , followed by the lesser-known Flannel Rush, although both events ended a year later after miners were scared by dinosaurs in the mines. Gravity Falls experienced a population boom in the early 1860s. As American pioneers traveled the Oregon Trail, many of them settled in the town. Among those who stayed were Grady and Fertilia Mecc, who are credited with inventing the high five, as well as a record-breaking 42 descendants.

In 1883, after the disappearance of Trembley, who was looking for a way to become immortal, the US government immediately put into effect a document according to which Trembley was erased from history, and Nathaniel Northwest became the founder and mayor of Gravity Falls . Stanley Pines is the owner of the Mystery Shack, a tourist trap that lures hapless visitors to take a look at the world's most bizarre museum. Stanford Pines is the twin brother of Stanley Pines and a scientist who wrote a series of diaries. The original owner of the Mystery Shack. Dipper Pines is the great-nephew of Stanley and Ford Pines, obsessed with his great-uncle Ford's diaries. Mabel Pines is the sweater -obsessed grandniece of Stanley and Ford Pines. Wendy Corduroy is a local teenager and employee of the Mystery Shack. She is Dipper's crush. Soos Ramirez is a worker at the Mystery Shack and a good friend of Dipper and Mabel. The events took place in the summer of 2012, when Dipper and Mabel Pines came to stay with their Uncle Stan for the summer. Bill is first directly mentioned and appears when he is summoned by Gideon. Gideon calls on him in an attempt to recapture the Mystery Shack, for this he asks the demon to penetrate Stan's head and steal the code to the safe, which contains the paper on the property of the Mystery Shack. Bill agrees only after learning that it is Stan he is talking about, but in exchange, Gideon will later have to help him with his own plans, which are not shown to the viewer. Gideon immediately agrees. Mabel and Soos witness a deal in the forest and, with Dipper's help, follow Bill into Stan's mind. Once they are inside Stan's head, Bill confronts the trio and boasts that he knows what they are thinking. To prove this, he summons Seiler and Kraz from Mabel's imagination. He, through deception, decides to force Mabel and Soos to find the code to the lock. At some point, Soos separates from everyone else and Bill takes his place. Once they find the right memory, he takes it and almost runs away with it. But while he is reading the code to Gideon, Mabel shoots the memory access door, throwing it back into the memory of the bottomless pit. Gideon calls off the deal, which infuriates Bill. Bill turns in his angry state towards Mabel and Soos, bringing their nightmares to reality and killing Zailer and Kraz. Dipper returns in time and tells Mabel and Soos that while they are in Stan's mind, they can do whatever they want. They fight Bill and almost defeat him. He transports them to some space, impressed, deciding to let them go, and after warning of a mysterious darkness that will change everything they hold dear, he tells them that he will be keeping a close eye on them. He disappears into a wheel almost identical to the one that appears in his journal entries #2.

After a few days, Bill Cipher wants to make an agreement with Dipper. Having concluded an agreement by deception, Bill inhabits Dipper's body, destroys the laptop and wants to destroy the diaries. It follows Mabel, who took Diary No. 3 for her production. Later he fights with Mabel, who defeats Bill thanks to Dipper's weaknesses. Bill leaves Dipper's body, warning of future events.

Bill appeared again after some time. Moreover, he first appeared in Ford’s dream to tell him that he cannot protect the interdimensional crack (which is placed in a glass ball with a metal stand) forever, and that sooner or later he will get to it in order to get into our world. Ford is very worried about this meeting and decides to protect the Shack from Bill's intrusions. He warns the children about this and asks Mabel to bring unicorn hair, which is an ingredient for Bill's magic shield. In the meantime, she gets the hair. Ford takes Dipper to his private room with a device that encrypts thoughts. He connects Dipper to it to protect them from Bill. During the process, Dipper asks Ford about Bill, and he replies that Bill is "older than our galaxy." Bill comes from an alternate dimension known as the Nightmare Realm, but cannot physically be in the other dimension. But he can use interdimensional cracks to physically enter another world. Dipper also asks how Ford found out about Bill, but he avoids answering.

The encryption of thoughts occurs slowly, and Dipper hesitates to find out Ford's thoughts, as he understands that he is hiding something about Bill. Connecting Ford to the terminal, Dipper sees Ford's thoughts as he makes a deal with Bill. Ford wakes up and takes off his helmet. Dipper thinks that Bill has taken over his uncle's body and takes the memory eraser to exorcise the demon. Dipper misses, and Ford says that it was him, not Bill. Ford then talks about how he met Bill and learned about his plans: a long time ago, Ford continued to be nagged by the question of the cause of strangeness in Gravity Falls, but his attempts ended in failure.

One day, during excavations in a cave, he found writings on the walls, according to which there is someone who can answer any question. Ford spoke the words out loud, but nothing happened. Later, in a dream, he meets that very same person - Bill Cipher. The demon pretends to be a good man and gains the author's trust. Bill helped him come up with a portal, and in return the demon could move in and out of his body whenever he wanted. But while testing the portal, McGucket learns about his real plans. Ford, full of anger, meets with Bill, and he explains why he helped build the portal - he wants to create an apocalypse and let in his friends, other creepy creatures from his dimension. Ford breaks ties with Bill and dismantles the portal.

After Mabel brings the unicorn hair, Dipper and Ford finish creating a protective field. At this time, Bill is watching them. The demon realizes that no one can help him inside the Hut. He decides to find someone outside the Shack. It turns out to be Blendin.

Later, after some events, Mabel runs into the forest, confusing her backpacks, takes Dipper's backpack, after which she hears Blendin's voice, soon he appears in front of her and says that he can help her by making the summer endless, but for this she must give a crack. Dipper runs away, and Ford tries to get out from under the rubble, but does not have time. Bill Cipher introduces him to his friends and turns him into a golden statue. Dipper tries to hit Bill in the eye, but flies away from him without harming him. The demon burns the diaries and offers to eat Dipper to Eight and Teeth, but Dipper runs away from them.

There's a party at Strachoromide where Bill casually mentions the upcoming second phase. Suddenly, temporary police appear under the leadership of the Child of Time himself, but Bill destroys them. The party continues. Soon, Eight and Teeth appear and report that they were unable to catch Dipper. But Bill makes it clear that there is no need to worry, because he has someone who will take care of it. Bill announces to his friends about the next phase of Weirdmageddon - the takeover of the entire world. But then it turns out that the city is surrounded by a protective barrier, the demons are locked in Gravity Falls.
